trade VQ35 altima for MAXIMA?

Basically over at the altima site, no one really has got into the 13s N/A. Moreover, the mods dont seem too compatible with the car.. since intakes blow mafs up, the headers keep the SES light, and its not exactly a cheap mod either.

Now for the 5.5th gen guys, are you having problems with basic bolt ons? I know a few have gotten in the high 13s like that...

Even the 4th gen manual guys, i believe have the 2000/2001 intake manifold mod to get them in the high 13s as well?

not even engine swap require for 5spd 4th gen to run 13s. nealoc has done mid-low 13s with NA basic bolt-ons w/ incredible driving skill.

Surely you're not going to dump a v6 altima so that you can buy a maxima, just to hit 13s? That's totally ludicrous.

if you can't hit 13's in an Altima you won't hit 13's in a Maxima. Its the same exact car within 50lbs of each other. Its not the car its the driver...besides BJS or some guy like that was well into the 13's a long time ago with his VQ35 Altima so its doable just takes a little driving skill.

Yeah .. . if your V6 Altima is a 5spd you should be able to get into the 13s with bolt-ons and a perfect launch. If you're auto then thats a different story.

I know u got like 13.9 w/ all bolt ons, & 14.66 stock or something... but it seems odd no other members have been able to do so?

just like nealoc187.. only 13sec N/A guy... no other 4th has done it... unless someone does the intake manifold mod I guess...

I call these people "exceptions"

well assuming I can get 14.6-14.8 stock w/ my auto altima... 13.9999 or something is within reach... but the mods for OUR altima seem quite a nuissance and not operating properly w/ the car... : /

Not really exceptions, anyone can duplicate our times with just an exhaust and intake.

Like Matt says, anything a Maxima can do an Altima can do as well.

stock 350z with lsd and good aftermarket tires run 13.6-13.8.... You can get a used Z for $19k, why risk not getting into the 13s with a maxima? if u can be sure with a z... however the 3.5L aren't very turbo friendly and break rods at low psi from what I read on my350z.com, superchargers are safer though on those cars (350z) because they are more linear..., so to be sure about getting 13s safely on a max you may wanna consider 3.0L turbo... my .02

I haven't seen any Z's yet that can do a 13.1 n/a like SR20den or 13.5 n/a like I can in my auto regardless of mods.

There is no risk getting into the 13's with a Maxima anyone can do it.

like Jime says any Maxima 3.5L or Altima can run 13's n/a. All you need is track tires, headers/exhaust, some form of intake or GAB, and easy 15 min or less weight reduction. I have an UDP which I dont think amounts to much but I have no problem knocking off 13's on my 18" street tires. Run at a decent track with whats listed in this post on a nice cool day and 13's are there. Just because only myself and Jime have done it doesn't mean we both have some sort of freak car or run at a super dooper fast track. Recently another guy with I believe exhaust/intake/UDP knocked off a 14.1 on street tires in an 3.5L Auto. Its easily doable with the right combo.
