Rebuilding the transmission

I am rebuilding the automatic transmission on my 95 GXE at cottman's for $2260!

Is it really that expensive to rebuild a tranny?

also are there any mods that i can add to the tranny while its disassembled and all...

Thanks
Serge

Oh, and I did try to ask the guy about a 5-speed swap, but he siad it would cost 1000 more... so i left it as an auto

C MAX got a bulletproof transmission done for $3000 on his AUTO. He runs a V2 Supercharger and 100 Shot of nitrous

Granted its not a Maxima but a co worker of mine got his auto transmission on his 96 Dodge Stratus rebuilt with a 1 year warranty for $600...

Ant96GLE is so right. Sergey, tebia yebut v rot. Go get the car out of the shop and give Jeff a call at Maximum Tuning or Level 10 and have them build you a tranny for 3000 that will be bullet proof and put down more power than an 5speed.

Or you could try to find a low mileage used tranny and just put that in. Check www.car-part.com.

oh holy hell. I hope you have cancelled the job order! I will stand up and dissuade anyone and everyone I can from using cottman. I used them. I paid :gasp: a little more than you did for my rebuild...only for it to go ******* up a year and a half later...AFTER the warranty had expired. A friend of mine had his tranny rebuilt 5 times by cottman. Once for about 3grand and then the subsequent times under warranty by them, lucky for him. Please, do NOT rebuild with them. Contact level 10 as the guys above have said or Import Performance Transmissions (Do a google search) They know what they're doing and the down time might be a little inconvenient, but you are guaranteed they know what they are doing, and stand by their work. I'd recommend you get a used tranny for cheap while someone else is rebuilding yours, for the cost of having cottman rebuild yours.
