Problem changing summer wheels to winter wheels
Problem changing summer wheels to winter wheels
I went to change my wheels from my summer wheels back to my stock sawblades. The summer wheels came off fine, but my front passenger side sawblade wouldn't go back on. It wouldn't seat itself on the studs. I couldn't even get it on far enough to thread a lug. I wasn't sure what was wrong, so I tried my other sawblades, thinking something might be wrong with the one I was trying. Well, none of them would fit. The summer wheel slid back on fine.
I don't know if a stud is bent, or what...
Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what's the best way to fix it?

What kind of aftermarket rims you have? Check to see if the hub ring from the aftermarket rim isnt still stuck on your hub/rotor.
It happened to me and I was wondering why my sawblade wouldnt go back on till I took it off and saw the hub ring on there... then I banged my head on the fender a few times for being an idiot

I was thinking the same thing...but its not on there.
But now I'm second guessing myself. I'll have to check again.
I know this is one of those problems that I'm going to feel like a real idiot for when I figure it out. Like slamming your hood onto a tool.
I guess I didn't answer the question...they're Ronals.

thats happened to me too...I dont see why your stock wheel wouldnt go back on though, unless your wheel got bent

Everything should be the same... I guess when you think about it, your stock wheel has 5 holes, your aftermarket has 5 holes... unless your aftermarket rim has bigger holes for the studs, I cant see a bent wheel stud being the problem. I just know that happened to me once with the hub ring, when you take them off just inspect it very carefully.
Well, I went back out in the garage, took my wheel off, and looked at the hub. I didn't notice anything strange. Then I REALLY looked at it...my hub ring oxidized just like everything else. I took a flat head and a hammer, and popped it right off.
Today was just too long.
Thanks Ant. I can rebuild a tranny, but I can't put a wheel on...

at least the wheel didnt go on with the ring in place. My cousin wasnt so lucky. He had universal wheels and one Honda sized hubcentric ring stayed in the rim. The rim bolted up and 2 days later got really loose, almost fell off on the highway, and ended up stripping all the lugs and studs. All because of a little ring. sheesh.
