What's happening to the amber turn signal?

What's happening to the amber turn signal?

It seems that Nissan (and others) is phasing out the amber turn signal.

This is most evident on the rears of the 2004 Maxima & 2005 Altima; previous generations have maintained the amber signal.

Personally, I prefer the amber signal since it easier to differentiate from the regular taillight or brakelight when in traffic.

yeah what's up with it...
the rest of the world uses amber but us has to be different with all them buicks & gm models ....no nissan?

it sucks for people like me that like to take the car overseas because amber is a requirement there & you have to make it custom (basically it looks crappy) ... especially on corvettes and stuff....
well, at least my generation maxima has amber

The trend is using red/clear so yellow is out for now. It might come back in a couple of years. The cleaner look is good unless you have the black/red tail!

I'm happy, I hate amber lights. Looks more clean with just red. I even set my fronts to only show amber when using turn signal. As far as differentiating, you should slow down, already be back far enough anyway, no matter if they are breaking or turning ahead.

Lack of amber maybe the wave now, but it's always been a mainstay on foreign autos. The new Altima, maxima, G35, TL, Civic all use red.
Well, least the top dogs (BMW, Benz, Porsche, Audi?) still use amber...

Anyone try amber bulbs in a red lens?

naw man, I didn't assume. It's cool. just arguing against people that prefer amber. I agree it stands out more, and yes probably safer, but I just don't like them. Maybe on some cars, but I like the Onyx with red and chrome accents on my ride, and amber just doesn't belong.

The way I drive I want to WARN people before I change lanes. If I could install a truck horn on em I would.

trust me the amber bulb in red lens doesn't work... what we're forced to do is to put an amber square (sticky note sized) on the tails... basically stick an amber square... Now who the hell wants to put that on their new car? but without you get tickets everywhere you go & you won't pass inspection...

BTW: Even though some Audi's might use red here, over in Europe they have Amber....(different taillights)

and red does?
Why can't we just follow the rest of the world?
Have Km/h not Mph . . have celcius instead of Fahrenheit, have amber instead of red, etc....
It'd be much easier to just make it universal....but no....we must be different...

BTW: this is not intended at you... just venting

i am all about amber blinkers these days.
1) for legal reasons
2) safety reasons
3) for that JDM look

I hate the stock red/amber/clear tail lights so i (as many others) modded them. Red clears with an amber bulb is classy and nice. But I like the racey DTM style. My car came with DC clears but I went ahead and paid for the OEM amber lights. 1FSTMAX made me do it to me i swear! And not to mention almost everyone has clear bumper lights.
I should have never touched the tails on the 96....painting tails is
But they still blink amber

because we're arrogant conceeded AMERICANS!!! our country was built on going against the norm. I like it that way. Sorry you gotta put up with it. Yeah, we all know how frustrating it is when a car (or whatever) has both standard and metric.

Jeff, you have clear lens but amber bulb, unless you've put those green bulbs in like a classy riceboy.

It's not so much the color of the lens that concerns me, it's the color of the blinking light....it should be AMBER!

I think youve got that backwards. BMW, Benz, Porsche, and Audi all use no amber in their tails now and Im pretty sure they havent for awhile.

I was behind a brand-new BMW today. The signal was amber, and an LED. I didn't notice what the lense was, but probably white.

Personally, it's not very important to me what Japan does as far as "styling" goes. When you want substance, it will always be German. The only possible, and it's a stretch, exception to the rule is Lexus.

I drove a 2k4 SL500 last weekend, and yes, it barely has more HP than a STi. But as you can imagine, it's way different. Too bad we couldn't keep the top down on Sat.

I see what you're saying, but I'm referring to color of the signal when the blinker is activated.
