Some troubles installing Catback..(pics)

Ok...well I figured that it would be a pretty easy install as there are only 4 bolts to remove the OEM cat and install the new one. I spent pretty much most of the day finding a shop that had the correct gaskets for the max (they still aren't perfect-aftermarket BS)

Anyways..I get all the necessary stuff on Sat and decide that I'm gonna do the install on Sunday before football (or course)....well I've soaked the bolts for a bit and while they chill...I go to HD to pick up a torch figuring I may need to heat them bad boys up a bit. I was able to get one of the rear bolts off, but the other one wouldn't budge. SInce I was just gonna scrap the exhaust...all rusted...I decided to just cut the B-pipe and move on...well did so..

Once I got to the Cat...this is what I saw:

From the pics you can see that they bolts look welded or just melted together from all these years....so I had to drive around with no muffler...gonna go have a shop pull that thing off today..then install the Catback.

better yet, I may go rent a grinder and cut that bISH off!?!

Also what size bolt goes into the extra 02 bung?

rookies!

i believe the stock cat uses studs...so it's not an actual bolt.

they are bolts, but they are really rusty. For mine I got the correct size socket on there and broke the head off. It makes the job so easy. the cat bolts will never come out unless you are good with a torch, or drill them out.

I sprayed some Liquid wrench while the car was still warm, and let it do its work.. came off easily with a breaker bar.

When I had to replace my rear O2 it was stuck so I had to excise the cast bit after the cat. The bolts were so bad they didn’t even budge after I ground both heads off. Eventually I just got fed up and ground right through the flange and the bolts and replaced them.
