Slobber on this!!!hehe
BTW...Sorry for those who have seen them already.
some info: The all-new, third generation 2002 Altima represents a total revision and rethinking of Nissan’s midsize sedan - it brings a level of design and performance that currently does not exist in its class. With a choice of a 240-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 (the first time a V6 is available in Altima) or 180-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission and an all-new 4-wheel independent suspension, Altima offers spirit with state-of-the-art technology. An aggressive new exterior design with increases in all major dimensions and a driver-oriented interior with myriad convenience and luxury features set Altima apart in the highly competitive sedan marketplace. The 2002 Altima is scheduled to go on sale in September 2001 at more than 1500 Nissan dealers nationwide.

I think the front looks more like a Taurus, and yeah the back mimics a Passat or Jetta, but the Altima looks better than either of them and is going to trump them all in terms of performance. I'm on my 3rd Altima (and 2nd Max), and was considering looking outside the family for my next car, but I might just get a 4th Altima now!

Gotta believe...

(The additional HP I'm speaking of is my hope that the 300HP 3.5L used in the Z may also be used in the Max)

I think the Maxima will have 260HP:
"...The 3.5-liter power plant itself is the successor to the Nissan Maxima and Infiniti I30's 3.0-liter V6 that has been named to Wards Automotive Reports' "10 Best Engines" list for seven consecutive years. The engine will drive a freshened version of the Maxima that hits dealerships in September. An all-new 2002 Nissan Altima unveiled in New York on Wednesday will house the new V6, but with 240 horsepower instead of the 260 in the Maxima and I35..."

The Max mentioned above refers to the 2002 Max. The 2003 is a whole different ball-game.

I think
I think the new altima looks great. I'm savin up for one of those instead of a maxima. My dad does not really like nissan but loves the looks of the new altima he said it even has a slight look of the gs300/400 lexus. Cant wait thill sept 15 I'll let you know how it goes at the dealer.
