Computer in -- and pix
#1
Ok a lot of you have been asking for pix of my computer setup. I got the computer semi-finalized (still the second wireless connection is not in,) updated, and installed.
There are pix available here: http://www.citrano.com/car/pix/i30.html
You can see the basic setup and components.
NOTE: Some of the exterior pix are from last fall, I have since removed the pinstripe, but that's about it.
I managed to almost completely drain my YellowTop today testing the computer -- so I had to run it off house current for a while until the YellowTop got back up to a level where the inverter would turn back on. Wow. Now I know the YellowTop does have a limit...
I finally diagnosed the "bump" problem. Some of you remember when I hit a bump the computer would re-boot. I was blaming the disk drive. I took the computer inside and opened it up and basically ran Winamp and started tapping and vibrating each component. I found to my surprise that it was actually one of my DIMMs. I removed the DIMM and now the thing can take some abuse.
I also managed to super glue my fingers together, working on the CRAPPY dash piece, OH how it bugs me. Oh well all is cool now and things are working.
Hope you enjoy the pix.

everything looks tight as ****!
except for the keyboard. I think the un-professional look of it on that visor really takes away from the sleek, great installation everything else in the car has. I say you think up someplace else for that. Otherwise, very impressive.

hey anthony! nice setup!!
i got a question for u... whats that button near the quarters behind the heated seat buttons? whats it for?
how long does it take to boot up?
do you often use the keyboarD? cause all i would do is have it sit under your seat and then when u use it to just pull it out... cause i can imagine that you dont need it its just for emergencies... im sure it looks good though when u fold up the visor though... can you open that keyboard? cause i would spray paint that case to match the color of your interior... and the computer case i would paint to match your trunk...
otherwise looks great!!

I probably won't bother spray painting the computer and/or keyboard to match because I imagine they will be replaced soon. I am likely to follow the suggestions and do a custom enclosure for the computer (and install it in the rear floor of the trunk, along with a subwoofer...) this summer. Also want to find another KB solution... still thinkin.
