no but i have a friend with a g20 and a cousin with an SE-R, so i will check their EGR's. I have a Pace Setter SR20 header and a 99 P11 manifold, so I can check the EGR fitting there. I know the early (high port) SR20's have a different EGR block off kit, since the EGR is bolted to the IM. But the low port kit looks perfect for the VQ30.

A simple gasket cross referance is all the digging really needed.

I would just like to point out that not all cars in North America even came with EGR, like Canadian cars many times do not have EGR, or at least they used to not have it. old Z-cars and Maximas from Canada have the great non-EGR intake.

On another note, 80's 200SX (S12) with the non-turbo CA-series engines have a very interesting EGR system. I noted that there was a post about how EGR would not be metered by the system. In the S12 NA CA-series engine the EGR is before the AFM. The EGR hose goes into the air filter box below the filter but before the AFM, so all the exhaust gas is metered! The EGR is controlled by a valve device that goes in-between the manifold and the air-box, and runs off a vacuum signal. The S12 does have ECCS.

From what I understand, even though this system was devised to cleanse emissions to suit US regulations, it is highly inefficient by using the ENGINE ITSELF AS A CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I mean come on, seriously, there has to be another way to cut down emissions rather than slowly leaking unfiltered exhaust fumes down the IM over the car's entire lifespan?

So what's the REAL DEAL with an EGR breather tube? Can I run one behind my intake filter and just call it a day?

Lets also get our local innovators in on this dilemna and devise a way to vacuum suck gas out of our precat egr bungs so we can still pass inspections.

You revived a thread thats been dead for a year. But its a great thread so I'll oblidge same place it is on the Maxima I would assume. Start by looking in the area under the TB and on the rear manifold.

We'll i thought i would add my two cents to the subject. I have done my own research in this area and will be pulling mine out as well, along with the other emmissions systems including evap and...the other one i cant recall atm. I have read professional papers on this subject and they came to find through empirical testing that the egr reduces the hp output of any motor. Thermodynamically, it makes sense, the egr reduces combustion temperature to decrease NOx and other pollutants while also reducing the hp output of the motor at any given point. It is simple thermodynamics...the higher the combustion temperature, the more power, the lower your sink temperature, the more power. Cold sink temp doesnt really have much to do with it for a gas engine as thats basically set by combustion, but the combustion temp plays a big role. This is exactly what they found in their research, and they also found to make up for the lost power, the motor could be supercharged or turbocharged. They did both and validated both tests. Search around for the paper if youd like. I found it on Google a while ago. I am of course not saying that it will make your car run great...it will make it more prone to knock and in this case...im adding a water/meth injection kit in place of the egr to reduce the possiblity of knock. This is especially important for me as my car is supercharged. But anyway, i have rambled on enough. Hope this helps in your decision.

I am a bit worried about getting the EGR temp code. Is it possible to tweak the EGR system to discharge back into the exhaust system, and allowing the EGR from the 3.0 to simulate correct function while having a non EGR 3.5 swap??

What about the 04+ EGR 3.5's? Anyone tried this?

I don't want codes, my state requires that we pass an OBDII scan!

I have a 3.5 swap and I want to get rid of the EGR and make sure theres no codes cuz I need to pass emssions. Thanks

This thread is timeless. Sorry I can't help though. Could be a way to figure it out with the multimeter no? Otherwise I'd say send a PM to somebody in this thread with a post 96 car that has removed it.
