Need Suggestions on used Maxima

Hello, I need to make a decision TODAY to purchase the following:

2000 Nissan Maxima, SE has 17" Factory wheels, Bose system, leather, auto, but has 94K miles. My question is....is that high mileage and how many miles can you get out of a Maxima if you keep up the maintence. Timing belt was replaced at 60K miles and the tires are new. The only flaw is a little bit of wear on the drivers seat. The selling price is $9500 NOw, is this worth it or not? Thanks...can anybody run a CarFax on this car for me???

First of all, no Maxima since 1994 has left the factory with a timing belt (they have timing CHAINS) so that is a red flag that maybe the salesman is being a little unscrupulous. That said, 94k miles for a 2000 is higher than average but as long as the body and interior is in great shape, I say go for it. The VQ is good for 200k+ miles, easy. I would suggest having an independent mechanic give it a once-over if you can, have him do a compression check. Good luck.

That's true about the timing "chain". When I asked the sales man if the timing belt had been replaced, he cheerfully said, yes, at 60K miles.

Probably saying that to make you happy. Customers are almost always believed to be stupid and ignorant to cars. Overall though the max is a good car and it has the sporty look and can be a family sedan. Good choice. Check the stickies to see about the VIN checks.

<-------- Wanted and still wants pearl white Maxi!

Sounds like a fair deal. I think people post in the stickies if they can run a carfax. G/L

If you need a decision TODAY + his outright lie about changing a non-maintainance item like a T-Chain at 60k =

1) A very complete inspection by a trust mechanic
2) Walk away because something is wrong with this car

He said that it had the maintance done at 60K miles, the only thing is the headlamps are kind of faded, are they expensive to replace.
