I just got a 96 Max SE, FULLY loaded ('cept for the seat warmers...think I'll live
, 56K for $8700. Got it off some guy and not a dealer (saves you quite a bit of cash I think). If you're persistant enough you should be able to get a good deal.
Good luck!

Man, Max's must be expensive here in Seattle.
97 SE Auto, 41k miles, sunroof, non-bose, no leather. $18,000. $21 out the door with extended warranty.
I feel like maybe I didn't get such a good deal. Although I didn't really have to pay for it. So I don't feel too bad! I wish I had leather though.....leatherseats.com hello?

1996 Maxima SE, loaded with everything including leather and Bose. just like it was brand new, not a scratch on it, nothing wrong with it, everything was perfect...it's like it was just meant to be mine. Some superneat/clean businessman must have had it as a highway car. 50,000 miles - $15,000 with extended warranty a little over 2 years ago...I love this car =)

I drive a '91 SE Auto that had 111k on the odometer when I purchased her. Bought it from the original owner who had properly maintained her and kept it in the garage. I walked away with it for $4200.

I'll post some damn good "almost bought's"
2.5 years ago when I first got my mint 94 GXE for a little less than $6K, I was dying for a 5 Spd. Saw a 1992 SE
5 spd Pearl White, with tan leather, moonroof, Bose, 105K miles, great condition, $5K. Decided against it because I loved my 94 too much.
Last month:
1996 Forest Green Maxima SE 5 spd, 67K miles, tan leather w/ heated power seats, moonroof, BOSE double din, 17' Konig Villains, tinted glass, aluminum dash kit, exhaust, alarm, spoiler+fogs. You name it, that car had it. I was all set to buy it, the guy wanted around $8K for it, he told me the fender was replaced and decently repainted, only thing was the pinstripe wasnt matched. When I saw it, I realized there was a lot more to it. The interior was mint overall, but as far as the exterior: The hood, left fender, left front door all looked like a few kids with a can of spray paint re-painted. The rear bumper looked like it went through a world war. Still, there was no body damage and the only thing between me and the car was a good paint job. I estimated it at $1200 but to get it to look like factory paint I found out would be $3500 so I decided against it. The guy was really getting desperate and was already willing to go down to $7K. Still, I didnt want damaged goods.
Bottom line is that they are out there and you should be able to find a 95 GXE with not much options and decent mileage for $7000K with no problem.

I paid $6,500 for a 95 GXE with 69K it was wrecked in the front but the shop I bought it from repaired everything and had the whole car repainted.this one came with a power drivers seat. be patient and expect to spend 1-3 months shopping till you find a bargain.

Just be patient. Keep looking long enough and in the right places and your bound to find a good deal.
For what its worth, I paid $4000 for my '91 SE (leather, Bose, sunroof, white faced gauges, keyless entry (not factory) Sony CD player (dealer installed option), about all the options but ABS). Dealer was asking $6500, so we offered him $4000 cash...needless to say he caved.
Never underestimate the power of cash when wheelin' and dealin'.
