There is a guy who has the exact same problem in this thread. Maybe you can help each other out?

Did you check if the cable or the shifter was causing it?

To check if it's the cable, you'll have to disconnect the cable from the transmission's end. Move the shifter around to see if it moves freely.

If it doesn't move freely, you'll have to disconnect the cable from the shifter's end and then move the shifter. If it moves freely now then it's the cable.

If it is the cable, you'll either have to re-tighten (if possible) or replace the cable.

Usually the cable stretches when you put it in park and the car moves forward a bit until it locks or if you try to force it out of park.

O/D on /off??

Does you mean the O/D on and off?
Actually I follow the manual to dignosis it, check thru all the transmission related cables, my technician even took off the transmission and clean it, but still can't fix problem. It can't shift from D3 to D4 automatically I can't drive it on the highway. I don't believe it can't be fixed. kind of upset about this!!

When the car is cold it won't shift into overdrive. There is a fluid temp sensor in the trans that has to see a certian temp before it will allow an upshift into fourth.
Just a guess since I get this complaint alot when the weather around here gets cold.

The trans in that car is pretty durable. Have your tech check(hey a rhyme) for resistance on the temp sensor.
