Steering wheel "shimmy"

Looking for some help. Bought my first Maxima (2004 SE) earlier this year and have experienced a steering wheel "shimmy" or shake around 55-65 mph since I bought it. I've fought with Nissan via dealers with no luck. They have finally told me this is simply an "acceptable characteristic" to the car. I don't find it acceptable, but how about anybody else?

have they done anything?? like an alignment, or a balance. those are things you should have done before you brought it to a dealership anyway. they may be assuming that you have already done that.

how long after you bought it did it start shimmying?

Thats not acceptable in a new car...

My friend had a 6th gen with a shimmy... took it back and they ended up changing his tie rods... still the shimmy was there... they changed his entire power steering rack and still it was there. They changed his wheels and still it was there.. guess what it was? One of his front tires... I would say try to get your tires balanced... see if it works... if not take it back and complain.

most likely thing would be tires need to be balanced. thats unnaceptable for a 04 to have a shimmy in the front end at any speed. take it somewhere and get the tires balanced, that will most likely take care of it.
