You mean you bought a previously flooded (water) engine? Damn I almost did the same thing with one from eBay.

yeah it was water damaged, but the j-yard was adamant that the motor wasnt running at the time of loss and it was ok.... tilley brought it down here and he and two other guys could not get the motor to spin, so the j-yard came and picked it back up.... they called like 2 hours later to say that they got it to spin, but tilley was still skeptical, but brought it back anyway..... im a little pist right now, cause its not like they dont have 3 or 4 more 3.5's sitting down there, and they deal with all late model imports that they get plenty of profit from.... tilley does a lot of business with them, i dont understand why they couldnt just take it back.... its covered under warranty....

I agree with you. In the big picture, anything sold from a recycler, oh why do we have to be politically correct, JUNKYARD, is questionable. That's why it ends up there, because nobody wants it so they are the bottom rung of the automotive food chain. But, at the same time, they stand behind what they sell for reputation's sake, as they are nothing more than brokers. It is rather hard to find a 3.5 at the very instant you need it, right? So they purchase junk, waiting for someone to need parts.

Anyway, they usually don't know what condition things are in when they get them. But they don't care because they paid nothing or next to that for it. So in the worst case scenario, they take back what they sold, at the buyers expense as far as shipping both ways. The only exception was in the old days they installed heat tabs at the cyl. head(s). Because they usually sell the motor sans cooling system and fuel system. So if you hook up a faulty cooling system and melt the motor, the tabs melt and they don't take it back. But a shop that knowingly sells a motor that doesn't run and doesn't take it back, is not a good shop imho.

yeah luckily they are within a mile of here so them taking it back is no big deal, if they would EVER take it back.....

Sorry to hear that, that's the cardinal rule of thumb, never never ever ever buy a car that was flooded. Who knows where it ended up, probably in someone's swimming pool.
