Just wanted to point out if it would be a problem to remove the stopper from underneath the accel. pedal. Will your accel. change if this is done. Or can you even remove this stopper???

yes you can remove it but it would be VERY pointless to do so...

It's not going to affect your acceleration. About the only thing it might do is stretch your throttle cable, causing your throttle to stick open and your car to crash into a wall or another car b/c it won't stop.

If you don't break the cables,

you'll surely pull the ends off. Usually after dark in the worst part of town.

Re: Re: If you don't break the cables,

There is no point to this. If you have your throttle cable adjusted correctly so the throttle plate is fully open when the pedal is floored. There is no reason for this mod. When the throttle plate is in full open position. It is horizontal and doesn't offer much obstruction. Maybe you should just move your seat up. So you can be closer to the pedal and step on it harder with the stopper in place. It may make you faster.

When the pedal is pushed all the way down, there is still enough room to fit my thumb in between the stop and pedal.
So if the pedal won't even reach the stop I guess there would be no point in removing it.

It's there for a reason..

You're throttle cable would probably snap if you took it off, plus when it's at the floor with the stopper, it's supposed to be WOT, Wide Open Throttle already, so removing it would do nothing, since you can only open it so far.

Yo, your sig says 17 X 5 rims? Is that a typo? I just never heard of 5" wide rims

AznWontonboy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This sounds horrendous. Get it looked at double quick!

We had a TV programme here a month or two back.

F**ds (Exploders in the UK in particular)have been having a glitch, where you switch on the ignition and it immediately puts the Cruise on and opens the throttle wide and keeps it there. The brakes will not hold it.

This can also happen while driving, the glitch suddenly floors it on you. Proved fatal.

Initially blamed on the drivers, of course, then on the carpet. I think there was a recall to actually stick the carpets down with more glue / bigger nails, but don't take that as gospel.

During the programme, an auto engineer reckoned that some electrical spike from something under the bonnet instucted the electronics to go to "Cruise On, Full Throttle"

The worst part of it was that it seemed to bypass the logic in the Black Boxes. You hadn't set the cruise, so touching the brakes didn't disable the cruise, because as far as it was concerned, it wasn't on.

The only hope was to switch off the engine momentarily (with associated loss of Power Steering) to reset everything. Like you'd have enough time to think of it.
