Headlight Film Protectors

There are several brands out there for headlight protection but I am unsure of which ones really work and which ones are the best! I have installed window tint to almost all of my vehicles I have owned and I know how difficult it is to do the back windows because of the curve. Well......there are more curves on the headlights and I need to know if there are owners preference on precut kits like X-PEL and Scotchgard 3m film or if just ordering a sheet and cutting it myself will work too. Are there any online stores that you can recommend that has these kits for an 03 MAXIMA? What is everyones opinion on putting a bugshield and window deflectors on? In channel window deflectors look good but man do they scratch the upper 1/2 inch part of the window, as on my Acura Integra.

IMO it's much easier to get the precut headlight film. You notice how tint is so thin and not really forgiving around curves. well for the headlight film it's a lot more flexible (when heated) and you can actuall pull it around curves w/o much drama..(when heated).

More info on headlight protector film

I have searched the web for every brand it seems. 3M by Scotchgard seems to be the winners choice. It is more expensive it seems for the pre-cut kit as compared to the X-PEL brand that is 40 mils thick for 45.00. There is LLUMAR that is about 17-20 mils thick for 69.99, there is Ventureshield, and also protint.com that just got a contract to outfit all the blackhawks in the Army before they deploy to the dusty environment. Most of the makers have bulk rolls or sheets if you want to do it yourself but it is only a few bucks cheaper that route.

All I can say is PROTECT those 1300.00 dollar headlights with this film for 45 dollars and up!

By the way its -43 today and the Maxima is doing great. AMSOIL works awesome in Alaska with the added engine core heater, oil pan heater, xmsn pan heater, and the battery heater. The 50 series tires thought hate the cold. THEY TURN INTO SQUARE TIRES and for the first few miles I know what the FLINSTONES GO THROUGH!

I've been considering something similar lately....However, can this stuff ever be removed or does it bond to the lights or leave a sticky residue?
Will the film 'yellow' quickly, as in sooner than the lights?
The summers get really hot down here around Memphis and tend to 'yellow' headlights after some years. Do you guys think the 3M (or similar products) could help prevent or slow the process down? Or would wax/polish be enough to prevent the hazing/yellow look?

Thanks

Jeremy

last i checked they are all made by 3M (the clear film). LLUMAR makes a headlight film now? wow that's news to me.

it "can" be removed but it's not something you want to do. it might leave a slight haze, sticky coating that you need to rub out.
it's been years and it doesn't look like it yellowed that much on me...maybe a slight tint difference.
