Folks,

When you signed up for this forum, you agreed to "play by the rules". This forum has rules. If you do not like the rules, you are welcome to find another forum whos rules are more to your liking.

If you feel it's "lame" that your *off-topic* forum has been moved, you can do one of 3 things:

1) post topics that are relevant to the forum in which you have posted

2) post the topic in the Off-Topic forum

or

3) you are welcome to stop posting on this forum.

Other rules you might want to consider

With over 10,000 registered members from all over the world we have reached a point where tremendous diversity, age, education, location and more are all factors to consider when participating in our forums. We want to promote a clean, healthy, respectful atmosphere where people are not afraid to ask questions, participate in this community and generally have a good time discussing the things we love most - cars.

All these points are important, but the more important points are in bold.

No profanity in subject lines or signatures. Refrain from using profanity or cr3ative spell1ng to get around the censor filters. - We have profanity censors for a reason.

No post whoring forums or threads with pointless posts. - There are plenty of other forums on the internet to do that.

No cross-posting. (see post whoring above)

No linking or posting of pornographic or objectionable material.

Do not impersonate other individuals or falsely represent yourself. - If you're over a friend's house, log out and use your own account.

Do not discuss, suggest, engage, or encourage any illegal activity on the forums. Linking to locations that deal with any such activity are also forbidden.

Posting under secondary user names or alias user names other than your main account for the purpose of arguing, degrading or belittling other readers is grounds for having your posting privileges revoked.

A car forum like Maxima.org is not the place to post personal problems, questions about personal relationships, etc. These types of posts will be deleted.

Respect both forum moderators and administrator. It is a thankless job that we do, and cleaning up other people's messes is never fun.

NO SHOUTING. DON'T USE ALL CAPS WHEN POSTING. It is difficult to read and annoying.

Try to post to the forum that is most appropriate for the topic being presented. - Post specific generation questions in their respective forums.

Respect the privacy of other members and individuals. Do not post personal information about them (i.e. addresses, phone numbers, passwords, etc.)

No buying, selling, or trading anywhere outside of the Classified Forums.

There are going to be topics and discussions that will have heated debates. Please think before you post and re-read what you type before you post it. Keep your comments limited to the debate at hand and not make this a personal issue between you and another reader. There is tremendous diversity in age, race, gender, language, location (worldwide) and more here and there will be a lot of varying opinions on different subjects. We're all human beings and we we're all drawn to this site because we have a common bond as Maxima and car enthusiasts.

Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for Maxima.org to review all messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that Maxima.org does not actively monitor the contents of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. Maxima.org does not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and is not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of Maxima.org or any entity associated with Maxima.org. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. Maxima.org has the ability to remove objectionable messages and will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if determined that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

Although these forums do not and cannot review the messages posted and is not responsible for the content of any of these messages, we at Maxima.org reserve the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Maxima.org, the makers of the bulletin board software, and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use these forums to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by Maxima.org.

We at this discussion forum also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.

Maxima.org is not a VIN checking service. Posts with this request will be deleted.

An exception will be made when someone volunteers to perform VIN checks. Such a notice will be "stickied" at the top of the forum.

Signature pics are to be work safe.

Women clad in bikinis are not work safe.
Uncensored profanity is not work safe.

If you're not sure about your sig pic being work safe or not, PM a moderator and we'll let you know.

Y2KevSE has appointed bags533 and me as the designated sig monitors. We are not moderators. Our only task is to keep sigs within the parameters set up in the terms of service that all members agreed to when they signed up as org members.

Here is the relevant language in case you signed up long ago:

"By clicking the Agree button, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

The owners of Maxima.org Forums have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.
"

Basically, this says no sexually-oriented content anywhere, including signatures. What is sexually-oriented content? Well, we have had numerous discussions on the org over the last year, and while many people have differing opinions, it is the ORG's interpretation that counts. To make viewing easier (and safer) for children and people at work, it has been determined that any image that is even REMOTELY offensive is not allowed. This includes women in bathing suits laying on cars, models in skimpy or revealing clothes, images of breasts or butts, and basically all imagery related to anything other than Maximas (or other vehicles).

We DO understand that this standard is VERY subjective and that it may be hard to understand at first. The general thinking is that if you have to ASK if it is permitted, it PROBABLY is NOT. You can always PM or email bags or me to ask if your proposed sig is allowed. We will let you know if it is allowed or not. We may suggest changes. If you disagree with what we have to say, we will be happy to discuss it with you, but the rule is as follows:

Kevin is the final say in what is allowed and what is not, and he has asked us to be his eyes. Unless you can accept that rule, don't post sig pics. Personally, I have no problem with some images that have been posted in the past, but I agreed to abide by the user agreement, and now I have agreed to help uphold it. It is not MY standard, or Kirk's, that applies here. It is the standard that Kevin explained to us over the last year. Remember, there are teens, even kids, who are on this forum. There are also people at work. We need to keep their interests in mind, and that is our goal with this.

As a courtesy to others, please avoid extra wide signatures. They are annoying and disrespectful to others. When your sig is so wide that it makes other users scroll to read the whole thread it is annoying and time-consuming. A good guide is 550 pixels wide at the widest. Also, please avoid extremely long signatures as well. Extremely wide signatures will be edited; extremely long signatures will be responded to as we see fit.

In ALL instances where I personally see a violation, I will email or PM the violator asking that the content or format be changes within 24 hours. If this does not happen, I will edit your signature myself. Org rules allow me to do so.

With all of that said, if anyone sees a violation, please feel free to email or PM Kirk or me with a link to the violator and/or their post. We will not report who told us about the violation.

Personally, I am excited by the renewed privilege of sig pics. I hope that we can keep them. I am here to do my best to ensure that this is the case, and I hope that you can respect my efforts.

You can email us through the org or at phenryiv1@cs.com (Patrick) or bags142@yahoo.com (Kirk).

Ebay auction posts will be deleted

We're tired of seeing reposts of stupid crap.

If it's not a legimate question about a product being sold on eBay, threads about eBay auctions will be deleted.

As you can see there are a couple of new sheriffs in town and it means that the enforcement of the rules above will be stringent.

That means if anyone initiates a personal attack or "stirs the pot", he or she is subject to being banned permanently.

Spammers, trolls, and post ****** are subject to being banned permanently without warning as well.

This is a zero tolerance policy.
