I have coilovers, they are evpensive as hell and they are a pain in the azz!!

Just kidding. Sorry I dont have any pics. But I lower my 97 3 inches in front and 2.5 in rear and it looks sweet. I think they are like 1500 bucks new. Some people will tell you they are not worth it but I like the adjustability. Its aesy to install and adjust.

Ground Controls are $399 new. 98MAX was referring to Cattman coilovers.

Like Kev said the Cattman set is ~$1500, but that is for the complete coilover system, including adjustable custom KYB AGX dampers. The GC set is springs only.

Yup, springs with sleeves. You'll have to buy the struts.

long time ago, skimax told me that even tho he's at the lowest setting for the fronts, he still had another inch and half to 2 inches of travel left for his rears...

oh, plus the fact that the coilover makes one hell of pinging noise every time he turns...

how's the ground control? are they any good?

who's got ground controls. my friend w/ an M3 has had his for years now on koni's and boy, talk about riding on rails. he has had no problems w/ ground controls (and i believe his was the test vehicle they used to come out w/ coilovers for M3 beamers). some people may not like the harshness of the ride, but for the handling performance i'd do it.

So now, who here's got ground controls in So Cal that i can check out?!?! 8)

Cattman coilovers

I have a set of Cattman's prototype coilovers, using Koni shocks. I'm very happy with them. I run them about 75% in the rear, 50% in front for street and 100% for autocrossing. They are noisy at parking lot speed, but great everywhere else. I don't think they are too harsh, but that's dial-in, and I've been in sports cars forever. The original springs wore out pretty quickly and I replaced them with Carrera springs of the same weight, but in 8" height rather than 7", and that seems to keep them from binding (flat spots from bottoming will ruin the springs). The good news is replacement springs are pretty cheap, available through any racing supply and easy to swap.

Re: Cattman coilovers

My coilovers were making a terrible racket when I was in a parking lot or somthing. Drove me nuts. Than one day I noticed that it did not do it when it rained? So I cleaned the crap out of the coilovers and sprayed the spring and just about everything with white lithium grease. And it has not made a peep since!! SO SO happy now...

i just installed my GCs today

i just finished my ground control install today.... and the verdict is:

really stiff. i got the recommended spring rates, which is 450 front and i "think" 325 rear (cuz they refuse to divulge the rear spring rate, its somewhat of a secret). anyhow... its damn stiff. if you dont want to ride rails, dont get them. or if you do get them, pay the extra $40 to get custom spring rates. i have KYB GR-2s, ride is a little bouncier than i had hoped it would be, as everyone said it would be. the GR-2s are pretty soft shocks. i wish i had gotten a shock with more dampening ability, but oh well. if you have any more questions about them, feel free to ask.

Sounds like you bought it from the group deal center. I ordered mine from Ground Control (500 lbs front 6", 375 lbs rears 6") for $399... which should be about the same price as the GD with custom sring rates.

yes

yes i got them through groupbuycenter.com. i paid $335 in the group buy plus $20 shipping. took a little longer to get them than i expected, but the company i dealt with was very helpful and called me to let me know there would be a slight delay. i've got them set at their lowest setting (about 2.75 in front, 2.5 in rear), and they are a little low. i have hit my cat (or pre-cat or something) on a few driveways. it also looks too low i think, like i have airbags or hydros or something. im going to raise both ends about .75 inches. i would have posted pics already, but my pops went to georgia for a week and a half and took his digital camera with him. i'll try to get some real film pictures taken and developed for anyone who wants to see them.

what GC told me what that they make it to specific shocks, so if you use the stock and get something else, they said they may have to modify it to fit the new shocks (which would be an additional fee). does anyone have NE info about that? from how coilovers sit, i don't see how that quite makes sense.
