Keyless entry / Anti-Theft seem to be out 89 Maxima
My keyless entry went out probably a year ago on my 89 Nissan Maxima, but I am now selling it and may want to get it fixed before.
When I try to push the buttons they are very hard and produce no sound at all. Every once in a great while I will hit the ST button and it lights up, but then thats it.
Could it be fuse? How can I troubleshoot to find out what needs to be replaced?
I also noticed that my built in Anti-theft doesn't seem to be working? The security light flashed, but I tired testing it, by locking the door with the window down, and then just reaching in to open the lock, and when I did my alarm didn't sound any more.
Any ideas?

You say you have keyless entry, but that option was only available on GXEs (your profile says SE).
In any case, i think there's a security computer in your car somewhere. Maybe that went bad? It is, in fact, a 16 year old car. Normally, I would say that harsh cold weather might have crapped out your keyless entry, but you're in CA, so I don't know.

I have a 1988 (the boxier style) maxima and the only thing that works on the keyless entry is the lock buttons on both sides. Im glad those atleast still work. I have the papers from when my dads old boss owned the car. She got it fixed at the Nissan dealer for about $800 bucks. The worst part was that was just for the passenger side. You maybe spending more than you are wanting just to get not alot more for your car.
