I'd like to say hi to everyone. I have been a long time guest on the forums and decided to sign up finally. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with others who love their maximas as I do. Peace.

Does anyone know a good way to remove road tar from paint?
I used rubbing compound on a small area and it removed the paint all the way down to the primer without even rubbing hard. That tar is some nasty stuff! Any help is appreciated.

Use a clay bar, You can probably do a search and find the ones people recommend, I know a lot of people like Zaino but they are internet orders only. I had the same problem on my car, and it had been stuck there for about 4 years before I tried the clay. It took my a couple hours, but it eventually all came off. There is a slight discoloration from where the tar was, but it is very hard to see and I think it was more of fading of the paint on the car than anything.

clay bar

That's a good idea, I remember hearing about that a while back I will do a search and see what I can find. BTW, I think I'm going to like it here

Try Turtle Wax bug and tar remover. They make special cleaners just for tar on automotives.

I know out in CA I went to like Pepboys or something like that and they had them in stock. I think I got Mother's brand, but there are people on the board that swear the Zaino product is much better even though it is only available ia mail order. I think the cost is like $13-15 at a store for a clay bar kit, and more like $18 for Zaino plus shipping. If you want to check out the Zaino bar click the link below.

Claybar

I ended up finding one at an automotive store and will try using it tonight (quite a few areas to do). Thanks for the help.
