Do all maximas come with factory alarms?
i was wondering if all maximas come with the factory alarm that uses the horns when you open the door or trunk, and pop the locks with the button.
i know that the se and the gle come with it but does the gxe come with it too?

Yea i had an 89 max se, had to use the key everytime. But it did have a security system. you would have to lock the doors from the panal, then close the door holding the outside doorhandel up, then when the door shuts, u let go. then it arms the car. Those 89 maximas were way ahead of its time. not to many cars were like them. Nobody ever belived me that My max was a 1989.

My 95 Max does not have an alarm or keyless. It is an SE with leather but that is the only option. It might have been custom or something. It does not have power seats, a sunroof, ABS, or power trunk release. It is really stripped for a maxima. It even came with the non variable intermittent wipers. I however swapped that out quickly.

This shows most of the options and standard features. An alarm is not standard on the GXE or SE but it is rare for them not to have it.

Damn you are that basic on an SE-L? Your car sounds like my gxe...the only options I had was the dealer installed spoiler and 15" sawblades.

by factory alarm do yo mean a system that will alert you (horn and lights) and kill the motor when the doors, hood, or trunk are opened without the key or keyfob.
3rd gens and 95/96 4th gens. (maybe 97)
the 3rd gens did not have a keyfob
the easy way to test is to close and lock the doors but leave the drivers window down. wait a 1 or 2 minutes then open the door
horn should blow/ headlights flash
next try to start the car while tha horn is blowing/lights are flashing.
shouldnt start
then get out and put the key in the door and turn it twice to unlock. (or lock dont remember) if you have a 4th gen you can hit one of the keys on the remote.
horn and lights should stop and the car will start normally
on 3rd gens the alarm will trip (after a few minutes) if you lock the doors and leave either the hood or trunk open.
cars i tested; 93 SE, 95 GXE w/power drivers seat (GXE comfort and conveniece), 95 SE w/ bose audio, sunroof and power drivers seat (= SE comfort and convenience) 95 SE w/ bose audio, sunroof leather and heated seats (? package)
this system does nothing in the event of a glass break/moderate shock or vehicle tilt.
this is also the reason that an improper aftermarket alarm (or keyless enttry on 3rd gens) install will leave you stranded.
i saw 2 guys last year stuck in a parking lot for about 10 minutes with the horn and lights flashing on their 3rd gen. they kept closing the door and locking/unlocking the car with a remote. so i walked up and asked them if i could help and they said the car wont start. i took the key and stuck it into the door lock and turned it twice and viola. they were on their way. before they left i advised them that if they dont get the keyless entry system installed properly this will happen everytime.

I am a little surprised that an SE-L would not have more options than that. I am also somewhat glad or at least not upset that my car does not have some of those options. Those that I really want I can swap in anyway.

I live in New York City and would never buy a car without an alarm. Also, I believe insurance companies give you a small discount if you have an alarm.
The one big advantage of having keyless entry is that you don't have to worry about defreezing and then clearing the snow on your key lock in snow storms. The panic alarm on the key fob helps when you cannot locate your car in a huge pakring lot. On the other hand, having electronic touch pad entry is good if you accidentally lock yourself out or you are at the beach and don't want to carry the key with you.
