Wheelskins picture writeup
Wheelskins picture writeup
some people requested a write up after i installed my wheelskins cover, but a full writeup isnt really nessasary because the cover comes with some detailed instructions. but the provided instructions dont have many great pics so i thought this could help out.

this was taken about halfway into the install when i realized i should take some pics. you can see how bad i needed a cover here.

this is the first step in the lace pattern. go through the back from the back. make sure to pull all the way through every time and keep your string pretty organized so that your strings wont cross over each other.

and heres step 2. just continue from the back to the front on the next eyelet. the install really isnt hard once you get the hang of the pattern, it just takes a few hours of your time.

this is a close up of the stitch you use when you come to your spokes- the dummy stitch. this is actually the easiest stitch to do, just remember to pull tight. also i skipped 2 eyelets on the back side of the cover. its harder to pull through and get the next stitch this way but its worth it if your going for a clean look.

and heres the pic of the final result. a few more tips: you might want to wear a glove on your pulling hand because after pulling the string taunt so many times it actually started cutting into my hand. also make sure you spend some time getting all the kinks out of the string before you start sewing. the biggest problem i ran into was the string knotting and kinking up on itself because i didnt spend enough time straightening it.
but i guess thats about it, if you have a worn down and unatractive steering wheel this mod is easily well worth the money. it cleaned up my interior and went along well with my other leather interior pieces.

why black on a tan steering wheel? (just curious)

i went with black on tan because i knew i wouldnt ever be able to match up the tans perfectly and plus it went along with my other black interior pieces-
