How Nissan loyal are you?

On my way into work today... debating wether to trade in my 95 Max for an 05 Altima SE-R 6spd, I was thinking about how many Nissan's I've owned and how loyal I am. So I was wondering if other org members had followed similar trends.... here's my list! Anyone else, just curious!

Current and working back:
1995 Maxima SE 5spd
owned 1year to present
1993 240 SX 5 spd
1 year 03-04
1997 Maxima SE 5spd (bought new sold to buy house) owned 1 year in 97
1990 300ZX Twin Turbo 5spd (best car I've ever owned!)
3 years 93-96
1983 280ZX Turbo 5 spd
2 years 91-93
1981 280ZX 5spd
2years 88-90
1978 280Z 5spd
6mths 87
1973 260Z 5spd
1 year 85
1972 240Z 5spd
1 year 84-85
1970 240Z 5spd ( my first E31 head, triple Mikuni carbs, loved blowing V8's away)
2 years 82-84

Geez Nissan has done well out of me! How about you guys?

I just do not like the direction that Nissan is going as far as quality and customer service. Infiniti may be within the Nissan company, but how is it that their customer service is light years beyond Nissan??? My next car will be a G35C or BMW 330I. Just my .02.

1993 Nissan Altima SE (sold)
1997 Nissan Maxima SE (current)

Im looking to move on to a different car soon, and I am not considering another Nissan. I've always liked the styling and feel of european cars and would be happy to replace my Maxima with some sort of BMW (540/6, E36 M3) or perhaps even a MBZ (C36, C43).

I get bored quickly, those are just the Nissan's, had Toyota's, honda's, Mazda's only one domestic! What a mistake that was POS! Probably had over 30 cars and 6 Motorcyles, the modding bug helps me to keep my interest up. Good luck to you in the Nissan profession.I'm good friends with a sales manager for one of the local dealers here, I think I paid for his house! I just found out a guy on my new Hockey team is the Nissan Western Canada regional rep.... So I figure I'm in for a nice discount on a new Nissan through my new best friend!, funny since I found that out I pass the puck to him much more!!! LOL

Two of my friends actually own 05 Altimas. One has the 3.5 SER and the other one has the 3.5 regular. They both have the same problem, their Chasie is bent due to the horsepower and torque that the car has. The body/suspension is extremely crappy compared to the powerful engine that the car has according to them. Just for better control, one of them even lowered the car and added FSTB and RSB. Ended up needing camber kit and the whole 9 yard. I don't know about owning another Nissan. Specially since Nissan's customer service is VERY poor. The quality of Nissan vehicles, like someone else said, it seems that it has gotten worse then before. My neighbor's 3rd gen is still running strong with 300k+ miles, and all he does is regular oil change. Where my 5th gen, is going thru 02 sensors, coils, struts, MAF, cat and the list goes on and on. I don't mind since it's maintenance or whatever, but MAF? 02 sensors? Cat? WTF? Ridiculous, and do I even have to mention about how so many 5.5 gens are going through tranny like oil filters? Sheeesh man. My next car is going to be a Lexus or BMW. Not only they have great customer care but also very very reliable.

I think I'm loyal to old Nisan. I hate to admit it, but it started to go wrong with 4th gens. Don't get me wrong I love my 4th gen, it's my favorite maxima model, and it's also the lightest. But what's up with downgrading the suspension? That was amazingly dumb. I think what's really keeping Nissan alive is the VQ. Stupid little problems started to show up with 4th gens, got worse with 5th.

I remember cars like classic SE-Rs, 300zx, 240s... that made Nissan. Now what do they have? 3rd gen Altimas and 6th gen Maxs are gigantic FWD boats. Fast boats, but boats nonetheless. f*ck, my 4th gen is only slightly bigger/heavier than the new Sentras. New Pathfinder and Xterra look like cheaply made, unpolished peices of ****. Murano, Sentra, 350z, blah.

The "new" styling is mostly miss. I mean, the Quest looks like a giant mole, and ALL of their cars, with NO exception (even 350z, G35) have UGLY rear ends. Not to mention interior. I went to the montreal auto show a few weeks ago, and God, my 1995 SE max's interior looks and feels better quality than a brand new max or Alti SE-R. What's up with that?

What's up with the ****ty 6-speed tranny that takes a dump and dies whenever it feels like it? What's up with it eating up hp and torque like there's no tomorrow? What's up with crappy MAFs, Throttle hesitation? Why did they get rid of the cable if the "new and improved" e-gas is crappier than our old cable?

What I'm basically doing with my car is getting the best I can out of Nissan (1995=lightest model, 4th gen 5-speed LSD tranny, Infiniti interior, 1997 styling touches, interior/exterior, 2002 Engine), all except RWD or AWD, which is impossible.

The only thing they have left is the VQ35DE. That and the VQ30DE have been saving their asses since mid 1990's, when they got rid of the 3rd gens, classic Sentras, 300zx, 240...

I think it's too late this time. Every single decision they've made in the last few years have made their cars uglier/crappier. Give me a brand new, 2-door, AWD, turbo version of the 4th gen over anything they produce now.

I have got to agree with above... I will probably get the best out of my 4th gen.... All I've known is nissan.. My pops had a datsun(i don't know what - was not into cars yet), sentra, then got a 300 z, then another sentra ser, then I got a 3rd gen, then I got my 4th gen.... I love Nissan. But they are not keeping up to standard. If I do stay in the nissan family, it may be an offset to infinity G35 - and that is only if they actually release the new rave I have heard of - as far as the new modifications bring it up to par with the old skyline. And maybe it's the US market that is killing them, cause some of their overseas lines are decent - but I don't think that is 100% the problem. But they must up their game - bottom line!!!

1990 SE - 1995-2002 140,000+ miles
1995 200SX (wifey's) - 96-2003 140,000+ miles
2002 SE - 2002-present 78,000 miles
2002 Sentra SE-R SpecV - 2003-present 38,000 miles

I doubt I'll ever buy another nissan CAR, now a Titan on the other hand really stirs my kettle. I see myself in one of those by the end of '05. In the SpecV's place.

I've had way more problems out of the specV than my maxima. Other than warped rotors the max has been great.

Lets see,
I've own(ed) 4 Nissan's and would say I'm pretty loyal.

My first car was a 87 Sentra 5sp. - A wonderful reliable car I owned almost 10 years

A 92 Maxima SE Auto - Another great car, had 190k on it when I traded it in, wish I never did now, it would of kept going

A 97 Quest - my wifes current van, so far it's reliable - the engine is a VG30E- based on 3rd gen maxima engine I think

98 Maxima SE auto, so wife can drive it on occasion - My current car and so far so good. I think I'll keep this one until it dies on me.

I've owned a few Hondas, Toyotas and a Ford truck in between that were ok, but that I tired of quickly.

Next time I buy a car it will most likely be a Nissan again.

1990 Maxima GXE POS tranny crapped once (replaced) then the replacement is crapping out (going to the boneyard).

In the process of buying a 1990 Maxima SE 5-speed. It needs work but I have a very large selection of parts.

My first car was a Nissan...

Order from first to current:

1994 Nissan Senta XE 5spd - My bro drives it now
1992 Maxima SE 5spd - Totaled after a year of driving it
1993 Sentra E 5spd - Bought as a parts car for $50 used the parts I needed, used it as a field car, sold it for $200
1992 Maxima SE 5-spd - Bought after my first max was totaled... drove for the winter and then sold it
1994 Maxima SE 5-spd (Current Daily Driver) - Found a newer and better 3rd gen so I sold the 92 and bought this... couldnt go 4th gen cuz I like the independent rear suspension.
1981 280zx Turbo- Project car for the last 6 months... almost done

And the car that broke the loyalty... 1989 Mazda Rx-7. Picked her up last week for $400... The new project.

Pretty loyal. I've bought four cars and three were nissans. However, it's not because they are nissans so much as I objectively think that nissan has great products. Going forward I definitely would consider non-nissans, but for now its offerings have been great for me.

I can agree and understand what most people are trying to say here -- if I buy another Nissan, it will be no newer than a 4th gen, maybe a 5.5 gen, but almost nothing else. I plan on picking up a z32 this spring to restore, I love those cars. It seems Nissan has gone a little down hill, but I would not hesitate to spend money on an older used Nissan. I love my Max, I had the tranny replaced (under warantee), had to buy another clutch, and have just been going through all of the maintenence stuff. It might be just because it's my first car, however it's not just blind love. You can't beat the acceleration and power for the money, and the looks aren't half bad either. I love the fact that my 4 dr. would be able to give the "sports cars" at my school a run (<-- modded H22 prelude, older body style; mx-6 v6, etc.)

I'm pretty loyal to Nissan. My first car that I got back in '92 was an '87 Sentra Sports Coupe. Of the four cars I have owned after that, three have been Maximas.

My first car I bought was a 95 max .....thing was the worst but I went back for more knowing that nissan would come back strong so I got a new 01 max se and it has been perfect.....I love my nissans......I now also have a 93 se-r (project car). My brother had a honda accord and then he went to a new 03 Altima 3.5. Then I got my mom to go from a 94 dodge caravan to a 03 max titm package........my sister drives a 00 accord coupe v6.......im working on her.....this might be my last new max(5 gen and lower for me) but it will not be my last nissan/infin....

90 max - pearl white loaded...wish i still had it, but rusted through, and wouldnt pass inspection.
96 gxe - owned 1 month, then crashed
98 gle - current driver, runs decent...but doesnt pull like it should, even though i have done every single thing imaginable to increase throttle response.
i totally agree with what everyone else says about the quality decreasing after 3rd gens. i would take my 90 over 98gle anyday. it was actually fun to drive.

I haven't had much choice to be a loyal Nissan fan as this is my first Nissan, and hopefully not my last. Here's my list.
'86 Ford Bronco XLT (2 engine fires)
'85 Ford LTD (Sold for Subaru)
'91 Subaru Legacy Wagon/Turbo (Traded for Corolla)
'88 Toyota Corolla DX (Died with no explanation)
'95 Nissan Maxima (Current)

I would definately trade my car for an Altima SE-R. My neighbor just got one, all black. It is such a sweet car. Handles great, mucho power, comfortable interior, just a well rounded car. You won't be disappointed if you make the Altima your final choice.
