Maxima Reasearch Paper- info needed
#41
Here is some of the info I found for my paper.
89-94 consumerguide
95-99 consumerguide
00-03 consumerguide
04 consumerguide
05 consumerguide
I have a few more sources I found at school and through the maricopa county library web page. But as you can see I am lacking 1st and 2nd gen info. I cant seem to find it anywhere. The other info I cant post because it will be inaccessible to everyone else on the forum except me.
Any more links anyone has will be greatly appreciated.

I have had a Max from every generation except the 6th gen. I gotta tell you I loved my 1st gen. Inline 6, RWD...that car was a blast to drive, could get a good rip going into second and handled nice!! I hated the stereo and the damn beatch tellin me my door was ajar though!
My 2nd gen was decent, a little more refined, no obnoxious woman talking to me, but it did have selective ride control...didn't really like it much. With the selector on soft it was very floaty and bouncy (worse than a cadilac of older vintage), normal wasn't as bad, and sport I think it was called was the best overall. Either setting produced a lot of oversteer on tight corners at speed. Oversteer=tail happy. Had some trouble with the 3rd gear syncro so shifting was sometimes tricky. That car lived to 250K on the stock clutch.
My 3rd gen I still have and love it! It handles great, has timeless style, is very comfortable, and still going strong at nearly 200K. The rear spoiler is prone to lifting because the inside metal bracket rusts out, and the drivers lower rear quarter is falling apart from rust. Overall the car IMO is prob the best handling suspension Nissan has offered in a Max (6th gen excluded because I haven't driven one).
The 4th gen I didn't have very long but wasn't as satisfied as I was with the 3rd gen. Nissan kinda shifted gears (no pun intended) towards Luxury and the handling wasn't as good as the 3rd gen.
My current car is a 5.5 gen which I love due to the styling, the 6 spd manual, and OMG is it tourquey as hell. This thing is faster than my old '87 Trans Am with mild mods! Handling still isn't as good IMO as my 3rd gen but am gonna do some mods to try to alleviate it.
All of them have/had manuals except for the 3rd gen. My vote was for the 5th gen because overall I think they got the ENTIRE package pretty good out of the box. I'm very anxious to see what the next Anniversary edition brings us. All in all these are just my opinions and i'm sure there will be several people that agree with me and even more that don't. But coming from a true Maxima enthusiast maybe they will hold some weight.
BTW sorry for such a long post!! Good luck with your paper and post it somewhere so we can read it.

explain how it originally started out as a rwd sedan, and how the vq(95+) has been on the top 10 engines list for the last 10 years.
My vote was for the fourth gen, first Max they put the VQ in, and it looks the best IMO....

Not gonna do history of the max, just kind of a persuasive essay. Comparing the different generations, and pick the top three based on 3 key criteria.

6th gen- FWD (still) return to AWIS, still VQ and 6 speed, got goofy glass roof or normal sunroof. got stupid climate control / radio display setup ALA' 80s GM junk. too small back window, too low rear roof.

This should give you a baseline on where to start, then select your top three choices.
Example:
Performance
Styling
Safety
Price (I would skip since you are comparing the same car in different generations), an with time, all prices increase)
Last, every model chosen 4th, 5th and HELL Yeh 6th, should be based on a stock model with NO mods, you will get lost in the soup with the 100's of mods available for all generations. Thus it would not be a good comparison. IMO
Good luck...
PS, use the facts, don't get too overwhelmed by information on this forum, because as your poll clearly indicates, the numbers are biased...
IMO, a 6th gen has earned a spot on that list... 6th gens can rock with the best of them...

hey Chernmax, he wrote this paper like 5 months ago or something....and yeah to me it sounded like he was bias based on design.........opinions...sigh...
i think all gens of the max have really proven to be great....yeah a 2nd gen looks nothing like a 6th gen but times change.
