Are there good (I said good) comparisions of different brands of synthetic oil or ATF? At least on the s.o. there are differences in the synthetic base polyesters and other syn. polymers. Amsoil and Mobil 1 look as if they hold most of the market share, but what about Cenpeco and other brands? It looks like the weakest line is the oil filter. Is there an oil filter like the Mercedes diesel oil filters that have a paper for most of the oil flow and a "bypass filter" for removing very fine particles? This prevents oil starvation that just a fine filter would cause.

For new engine, syn. oil is usually not recomended until 8K miles. What about in an auto tranny?

With a lack of lower access pan on the Nissan transmission and the need to pump flush the ATF, how to you do a clean change over to syn. ATF?

Well the easiest way to do a complete ATF change is to take it to the local Jiffy Lube and have them do a "T-Tech" service. I brought my own Redline ATF and they took $20 off the $90 charge. So total, with fluid (12 quarts) it cost almost $200 for the total Redline D4 ATF flush.
