Tint

Llumar's good... 3m etc.. i have llumar 30%, but it all depends upon where you live (laws if you follow them) and how you want it to look on the ride. also, if you have a darker interior, tint tends to look a little darker too... keep that in mind... check out some sig pics and what-not.... also, you may want to check out www.autowindowtintings.com it doesn't have a max, but it'll give you an idea of how the different shades look on the window..
simply a personal opinion... are you thinking of having it professionally done? or are you doing it yourself?? this brings another barage of questions....
regardless.... 15% would look tight.. IMO

I'm in the process of tinting my car too, but I didn't wanna put anything less than 20% in the back because I was worried I won't be able to see outside in the night.

I can see fine, you get used to it after a while. I had my 96 with 5% and my 92 with 5% and now this one and I love having tint cause no one can see in the car at all especially when it is really overcast, I also like it because it looks great and everyone stares at the car and tries to see in and can't tell if I give them the finger or not

go dark
I went the legal limit in my state, 50% sides 35% rear and it's ok but i don't really like it, i should have gone much darker and i think that i will get it redone soon. Maybe 35% on the side and 15% on the rear. 50% is not dark enough at all, GO DARK.

I agree that 50% isn't dark enough. I just moved to VA from TX last month and had to completely redo the tint on my 95. It had been on for 5 years in the TX sun and was starting to fade a little bit anyway, so I didn't mind replacing it. What I did mind was having to go 50% to be legal AND having to pay MORE to remove the old tint than to install the new (they spent 4 hours peeling the back window so the defroster would still work). Ouch.
BTW, I learned from the police around here that every patrol car carries a tint meter and most of the motorcycle cops have them, too. They hand out some serious tickets for illegal tint and they can pull people over just for that (not doing anything else wrong). Sheesh. If it's illegal in your state, you're asking for trouble because most of the traffic cops look for excuses to pull people over and check them out anyway.
But it still looks better...

i'm not worried
There are almost no tint meters that cops have around me. the local PD doesn't even have one. i asked a cop about tint one day and he was like uhhhh i'm not sure so i don't think they really care, i'm going darker after my cat-back is on.

I have never been hassled by the cops here in Knoxville, TN. Knock on wood but this is my third car with 5% and the cops never say anything to me, probably cause it's a four door nissan, and I am on the West side of town (more prep)than the east side of town. I asked a cop one time what he thought about 5% on a car (he owned a detail shop) and he said you drive a Maxima right, (restating what I had said) he told me that most of the cops in the area don't care about dark tint on a nice import car in my area of town because it is there for the looks, not to hide. He said on the bad side of town when there is a 73 Caddy rolling around with 5% it might be something to worry about. Now most people who see my car don't ever get to mad at it cause they don't know who could be in the car, so they are intimidated by it a little which I love
But with this being my third car with 5% on it and no problems I will keep it like this for a while. my buddy had a 95 Talon TSI with 5% on it and we got pulled over one time for having the music too loud and no seat belts on , and the cop just said that tint is kinda dark isn't it? and my friend said yea but it's nice, and the cop really didn't say anything more about it except that he couldn't see the temp tag in the back window (it was there for that specific reason, so he could run if he had too, he just got it and it hauled a$$) I think that cops may be kinda reasonable about some things, but maybe that is just in my area.

Ok, I am getting my windows tinted for my B-Day on my 95 Black Emerald. There is a local shp where the owner owns a Maxima, and I really like the levels on his car, but I am wondring if this is a good deal for Llumar tint. $185, minus 25% is I do it by the end of the month, for 50% on front (Cali laws taken into consideration), 35% on rear, 20% on very back. I don't like the limo tint that much, so I don't want to do 5%. Also does the tint get affixed to the inside or outside of the window?
