My dad's max just bit the dust. '94 SE with all the options. It's considered totalled because both the cam sprockets (is that the right term?) went bad for the 3rd time and the cv joints are gone. Plus the elecrical system is ****ED. The car has actually locked me inside of it several times and I had to crawl out of the window. I swear the car is possesed... The stereo is gone, not that I care. It comes on randomly for 30 seconds, then stays dormant for another 2 weeks. Nissan wants $5000 to fix it and the car is only worth $7-8000 at the most if it were in good condition.

It just seems like such a waste! I loved driving that car: It hauled ***, fit a ****load of people in it, and it would make for one hell of a sleeper. Plus, I just love the way it looks. Charcoal exterior / grey interior - garaged the entire time since it was bought and it was driven by my dad = Mr Magoo. It's really cherry except for the engine woes.

I mean the body and tranny are in mint condition! I hate to see this car go to complete waste.

I hate language filters...

Anywho... lemme know if you guys come up with any good ideas or uses for my dad's old car. He's about to trade it in for a new freakin civic and I will have to kill him if he does. He wants a "efficient commuter car". I told him he could have my civic and buy me a new LS1.

Bottom line: What can we do with this machine fellas? Anything?

Have you considered parting it out?

It's not my car to part out. I'm wondering if it's worth talking my dad into hanging onto it instead of trading it in for $1000. ehhh...

you could easily part the car out and make over $1000. if the tranny is in good shape, it'll draw you 800+ right there. then you can sell the engine as-is for 3-400 easily... most likely get well over that.
that'll be mroe than the trade-in money right there.. then you can just sell the rest of the small stuff as people need it.

I'm parting out my 93GXE, and I've already sold about 400 in parts before I've even started working on the big stuff.. mirrors, window motors, door lock timer, etc..

I also made the rims a little bigger (like 19s) the real pic is on my homepage. The konigs ride great... they take a lot of abuse (road in auburn suck) and they are fine.. i love them.. and dont listen to anyone that say they are played out

Yo! Whats up Fly!

Damn Sorry to hear about the Max. I agree that Parting it out would be much more profitable then trading it in, but it will just be more of a hassle. If you have the room I say do it, and then advertise parts here, or put them up on fleabay or somwhere else. Plus it would be fun just to take the thing apart!

About the window motor how is it coming? It sucks having to keep it up in the hot weather and the A/C is ruining my mpg. Oh well just checking
