Anybody has any info on tinting windows?

wanna know what brand tint to buy and how to do it.
is it similar to putting colored vinyl on the dash pieces?

I will say this. If you don't have a really good idea on how to install tint then just spend the $200 and get it done professionally.

yes. don't do it yourself here. it'll look horrible.

get it professionally done. should be $200 or less depending on where you go.

also, keep in mind that if you make them too dark..the cops will be more likely to pull you over. there are certain tint levels allowed in each state which vary between front and rear windows.

if i were you, i'd find out how the cops in your town are with tint. i got lucky, and drove my car around for a year and a half with the darkest tint i could find and never got pulled over. but i have friends that would get a tint ticket once a month - it depends on where you live.

and another vote for getting it done professionally. at least if they screw it up you can get them to do it again. if you screw up, you just wasted money for the tint, plus whatever time it took you to do it.

i would leave it to the professionals. tinting yourself isn't really a thing to do if you're not aware of the procedures. in the end, i think you'll save a lot of headaches if you have it done right the first time.

I think NJ is very strict with the tints. Go to a shop, and just ask them to put on a legal tint. They know what's legal and what's not.

i know the 5.5 gens do. i'd ask the guy at the tinting place about it. i had mine tinted and the did a horrible job. they said they can cut it back but i don't want to risk them cutting my antenna and defroster cables so i think i'll just bish until they do it over. my dad has it on his infiniti i35 where it's tinted up to the dot matrix. you can't tell at all from the outside and only from up close when you're inside.

about tints and getting pulled over. i honestly think it has more to do with the car than how dark it is.
'cuz i have a friend that has the darkest tints but they're on his lexus sc430 and he never gets pulled over. but when he's out driving in his rx-7, he gets pulled over a ton (obviously, it doesn't help that the rx is modded).

did you have nj plates? if you didnt then they wont bother you since you have NY plates. damn laws, i want to tint mine dark but cant, so im thinking of going light in the front and dark in the back. ive seen dark tints here in jersey, dont know if they get harassed, but i want tints so i dont really care. just hope i dont get pulled over.

so tints are supposed to be under $200?
i called up car boutique today in schaumburg, IL and they told me that it would cost me $325 for full service, tints all the way around and lifetime warranty.
i guess i can find better, huh?
