Exhaust options

I have a "custom" 2.5" exhaust with y-pipe on my 2k right now. I'm planning on getting a new stock muffler soon and getting the back half of my exhaust redone. Someone was telling me to go back to 2.25" pipe with a straight through muffler, as opposed to staying with the 2.5" and stock muffler. Any opinions on that? I'm not really knowledgeable on backpressure and all that, but I want a neutral ground. No major loss on low end, and no major loss on the top end either. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks guys!

You dont need back pressure, all i can tell you is a 1/4 inch wont make a differance unless your boosted.

Y dont you just leave it the way it is?

I'm probably going to leave it as is, but since someone told me otherwise, I thought I'd get some opinions from some other people with the same car. The hanger broke near the muffler anyway, and it wore a hole in the back of the exhaust pipe, so I figured since I'm getting the back half redone, why not see if there was anything behind the other guy's theory. Either way I go, I've got a muffler to put on. I've got a brand new straight through borla, and another stock muffler to put on when it comes time. I just wanted to see if anyone had anything to say.
