the rear is a tad lower than the fronts. when i was putting in the rear springs into the struts, there was about a two inch gap from the top of the spring to the very top arm thing that holds on to the top of the spring. when i lowered the car of the jack, i had to hold the spring in place so it wouldnt move out of the correct spot. kinda understand what im describing? my question is, is there anything i can put in that gap that will raise the car up a little? i am assuming that i can put something like the bumpstop in there instead of nothing that is real hard and wont squish up, thus the car will raise however the big the thing i put in is. sort of get me on this one? is there already something like that for this? any input would greatly be appreciated, thanks

The bumpstops have nothing to do with the ride height, only suspension travel. Taking out the bumpstops is definetly not suggested, recommened. Cutting them to the appropriate lenght is ok to regain some lost suspension travle. Didn't you say you bought your springs previous cut? Maybe the previous owner was trying to sell you their mistake?

why wouldnt it a effect the ride height? i've been thinkin for a while and dont see why it wouldnt. on the strut, the bumpstop takes up some space, if it were to be removed, then the shock would be compressed a little more witht he weight of the car since there is nothing restricting that 1.5 inch space that it uses up anymore. am i missing something here? can you explain why it wouldnt? thanks

Likethe dude sdaid the bumpstops do not affect the ride height. Why? Because you only hit the bumpstops when the car hits a bump not when it is sitting still.

This is strange your back is lower then your fronts because I have sprint springs too and the back is higher then the front. Wana trade? JK.

Your idea about stuffing things inside the supension is a very stupid and dangerous idea. It could cause the springs to do strange things and possibly disconect and cause a accident, at best it will just make some horrible noises{probably}. I say just chill with what you have or get new springs.

i have APEX springs....

and about "stuffing" my springs with crap, i was asking if there is anything made for this, something similarly made compared to the bumpstop that will go around the shock and take up some space. i thought there are things like spacers for something like this but i didnt know, thats why i was ASKING.

btw, when i went to return my spring compressor at Autozone today; i asked one of the workers about this and he said that he has seen something that can be used for this occassion. this is where i got the idea and that is why i am asking. he said it is a cushion or spacer but he doesnt know where i could get one from, another reason why i am asking.

basically there's nothing you can put in there to compensate for the loss in the spring height. the upper coil rests at the top strut mount. the lower coil should sit at the strut perch. if they don't then you either have the wrong coil or something definitely is wrong w/ the springs (cut?). if you have to hold the coil from shifting when lowering your car then you're using a coil that's too short. they should at least be snug if not tight when you put the upper spring mount on. good luck.

When you have the rear strut and spring put together, before even putting it back onto the car the spring should be tight and not move when mounted to the strut. If it was loose I would say there could be potential safety hazards.
