Thinking about buying a 2003

ok what would you guys do. I currently own a pebble beige 4th gen, piece of crap, needs a paint job bad 129k. Today at work my boss pulls in a 2003 se he got at an insurance pool, its got a 3.5, auto, black ext, grey leather, sunroof under 20k....loaded. Anyways he told me he would sell it as is for 8500. It needs very minor work to the front. hood front bumper, airbags and stuff. fenders are good. he said if i did it myself about 1000 would fix it up. I'm thinking about buying it and throwing a carbon fiber hood and a stillen kit on it. What would you guys do. I need to know tomorow or he's going to start fixing it up. Also what is average for full coverage on a 2003. Any help or guidance is appreciated. I just keep thinking ahh 3.5, stillen, carbon fiber, 2k3... for under 10k. What would you guys do... Thanks

If it has a clear title, buy that car now! That just sounds to good to be true. For an insurance quote, go to Geico or Progressive's website and get an instant quote. You'll at least know the ballpark figure for insurance in your state. Run a Carfax on the car before buying as well.

I say go for it if you can get the work done for cheap. Make sure there's no other damage done to it! I heard that insurance for the 5.5 gen is very expensive because of the bad HID light design, people steal them easily.

ya i gotta get the vin tomorow to get insurance and carfax all checked out. Im pretty sure it doesn't have a clear title cuz it was wrecked and went thru the insurance pool and stuff. oh well as long as it's only had the one in the front i'll be happy. And if me and my buddy fix it up right it dont matter. Man i want it. And my parents are buying my 4th gen for my lil sis so i'll still kinda have that too.

If it has a salvage title, I'd think twice about it. Post some pics of the car so we can see what you mean by "minor" work to the front. That word is very subjective, especially since you are so excited about the car. It may be effecting your judgement.

ill get some pics tomorow with my phone. seriously its not that much work. especially for what we do in the shop. The last car we fixed the driver side 1/4 of the car was cut and replaced. I just got an online quote and its 66 a month for full coverage. That cant be right because im paying more than that now for just liabillity on my 4th gen. quote and what im paying now are under parents name.

Hey just found airbags on ebay. Would 2000 maxima airbags fit an 03'? they should right?

HAH whenever we have cars towed in that were wrecked to my work, they are always missing the headlights, its funny cuz the truck driver always has no idea they just take them and sell them. the nissan HIDs arent the only ones getting stolen BMWs are popular too!

From the threads I've seen on here, the general consensus is these projectors look nice, but have really poor light output. 02/03's came standard with HIDs in reflector housings so if you are looking to restore to OEM, you're gonna wanna look for those. If you don't care about HID's, look for the 20th Anniversary lights to retrofit. By the way, anything to do with HID headlights is a very sensitive topic on this board so make sure you have proof of purchase if you are looking for help with OEM HID lights.

If the light output sucks couldnt i just upgrade and run some high wattage bulbs in there. that should help out a bit i think. More than likely i won't be having HID's unless i find a complete set on ebay with the housings. Will it still work with the HID housings? Anyways those projectors will probably be my last choice when it comes time to buy headlights. If there arent any cheap OEM ones on ebay or something ill try the projectors out. Thanks for the help guys. I think im gonna go ahead and buy the car. See it's not too bashed up. Have to go to the bank tomorow and take out a loan.
