Okay, I searched (!), but I didn't find a whole lot of information about slotted and x-drilled rotors. I am thinking of buying these:

http://forums.maxima.org/attachment....tachmentid=524

Which someone is selling in the for sale forum for a reasonable price. I would like x-drilled and/or slotted for the slight performance increase (?) and the looks.

Now, being in a colder climate (WNY) are these going to be less likely to crack because there are less holes than your typical x-drilled rotors? Is there any down side to these rotors?

Also, I read that a lot of people are using Motul(sp?) brake fluid. Any idea where I can pick some up?

Thanks.

I have the Stillen/Power Stop rotors

I have them for like four years now and no problems. Live in south-eastern PA and they stay on in the winter. They have never cracked or warped. Knock on wood! Also have the Metal Matrix pads, Goodridge stainless lines and the Motul fluid. Only place to get the Motul that I know of is from Stillen. Needed some in a hurry when the shipment from Stillen got damaged and couldn't find it locally. Castrol makes a DOT 4 fluid, but it's not the same and its boiling point is nowhere near Motuls. It's a very impressive improvement without going to AP Racing or Brembo's.

i got the stillen slotted rotors and metal matrix pads for the front. they definitely make the braking more responsive. didnt see those (slotted and x-drilled) at the time, but they look nice.

i have read stories about the x-drilled cracking, but it was something like the holes being drilled too close to the rotor edge (?)

Cheaper brands of cross-drilled rotors sometimes crack because they don't take the time to chamfer the holes after they drill them. They just drill and that's it.
The Stillen/Power Stop rotors are drilled and chamfered. The chamfering reduces the stress on the edge of the holes as the pads slide across them. If you get a brand that are just drilled and not chamfered it's a matter of time until one cracks. Say NO to crack!
