A large MPH gain from the 1/8 to the 1/4 shows the vehicle isn't living up tp it's potential in the first 1/8th. Or as it's been stated, has a very peaky powerband.

A good example of this is if I krept across the first 1/8 at only 10mph then went the last 1/8th using the vehicles full potential. It would probably gain 80+ mph in the last 1/8th.

So, Tilley, I don't think anyone is doubting what you've done. It's just not the norm and IMO shows that your car should be hitting 80+ mph in the 1/8th which would reduce the gains for the 1/4.

MPH - 85.99
1000 - 11.040
1/4 - 13.101
MPH - 110.42

24.43mph gain from 1/8th to 1/4 MPH, some of my other slips I have looked at ive gained over 25mph.

I wouldnt say its impossible, my Talon did 81.85 in the 8th and 108.69 through the 1/4. Thats 26.8
But it's clear from your slip that you're getting a lot of wheelspin because your 60' and 330' are relatively slow and you're doing 13.1s at a high 110mph+ with fairly slow (by F-Body standards) 2.1X 60 foots. If you're 60' were to get into the more typical high 1.9s, you're 1/8 mph would improve somewhat and you wouldn't be showing quite the gains in MPH the last 1/8.

As for your Talon, again, read my earlier posts about turbos with big lag/big power.

That's a much better way of putting it than I did. I wasn't doubting anyone. It was just way out of the norm for these cars. Maybe the cams and the gutted intake manifold have made the powerband very focused in the last 2000rpms of the rev range. It's just odd to see this car accelerating (MPH wise) as quickly as my old Maxima in the first 1/8th (77-78mph) and then all of a sudden it's running away hard over a very short distance. I would have expected atleast 80-81mph. The 60' is decent and so are all the ET numbers. The ending 1/4 mile trap just doesn't make much sense to me. That's all.

30mph from a N/A Maxima i seriously doubt that one. 700-1000whp Supras barely see 30mph in the final 1/8th.

Wouldnt the only way you gain that much mile per hour be from a truly incredible engine or just crapy traction/start time.

No NA maxima is ever going to see 30mph on the big end unless the launch is totally screwed up. A clean run won't ever see 30mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4.

I'm sure you'll run good times, no disputing that, I'm just saying that because you and most people going to the track are good drivers, they won't be able gain 30mph on the big end with a good launch. 30mph gains are reserved, like blue said, for 800hp supras or cars that really botched the first half of the track... so... yeah, i guess that would be 800hp supras lol. Even hal only gained 29mph on the back half of his 125mph pass and that was with an extra 100 or so hp in 4th gear (he sprayed only 4th gear, 65 shot, which combined with the cooling effect of the nitrous probably equaled about 100 extra hp).

Yeah, my dad's Firebird doesn't even gain 30 mph in the second 1/8th. 5.86@115 mph at the 1/8 mile and 9.37@143 mph at the 1/4 mile. No way you're gonna gain 30. 20+ is already good enough.

Do you ahve a full timeslip? that is haulin ayuss.
Also what do you estimate your weight to be?
If you are in the 2800lbs ballpark then that puts you at around 235fwhp.

Taken from the 1/4 mile section:

rt .584
60 2.005
330 5.549
1/8 8.540@82.13
1000 11.139
1/4 13.328@103.17

1/8 mile gain now equals a much more reasonable 21.04 mph, not nearly the freakish 25mph like before. This car has a 12.9 in it if he can pull a 1.8 60 foot like Neal could. The car clearly has the power to do it.

Now do you guys see that I wasn't talking about of a$$ or talking
