I emailed them asking if they were going to develop a grill for the max.... they are interested but tied up til late summer.

The grills usually come in 3 colors, black, white, silver.

If you are interested post here so we can show them interest in the product.

That sounds good.

I like the idea of a mesh grille better than the billet ones.

chillin' 'n' grillin'

yeah, I'm not so keen on the billet look.
[hey, sorry, no offence, 2eachhisown]

But I'd dig a mesh grill - especially in black.

I gots a 97 SE.

I'd want the mesh for the top grill
the middle opening
[I took off my front lic.plate - and the whole lic.plate holder thing]
and the bottom opening as well.

Any pictures?
[I went to the site - I mean on a Max]

Will they make them for the 97?

Will they make them for all 3 openings?

How much will they cost [group buy possible]?

When?

hey, ya know

I was just looking at the site again...

I'm still innerested
but it kinda reminds me of that metal lawn furinture mesh,
knowhamean?

I'd really like to see it in a honeycomb
or better yet a panel with a regular pattern of holes...

They charge like almost 200 bucks for these when you can go to home depot get what ya need and do it yourself. I guess if you are rich it does not matter.

looks up

HEY MAN Slick!

He was the guy who gave the the Home depot idea and his looks really nice. The price of these mesh grills is the same for a billit grill. You can get these powder coated any color you want.

i made mine the exact same way. I bought gutter mesh from a hardware store, $5 and a can of silver spray-paint. I also used door-jam molding(black) to go along the bottom edge of the mesh to make it look clean cut. Then i used hot glue all the way around to secure it. I even replaced the ugly Stillen mesh in my SMX grille with the same style mesh for the bumper.

Looks sick and i get compliments all the time!

HOW :)

Okay guys, this looks super, but how do yo uremove the stock grille/etc. to put this stuff in. I'm totally up for the project, but I need a wee bit more info about how to do this. Does the Chilton's manual have info about it? Porbably not. Anyone have any instructions written out? I love Home Depot.

Thanks,

Although the mesh would look great in black I'm still interested in the sheet metal with the drilled holes like the kind you find on the Mercedes Benz SUV (ML320?). On my '98 Black Max SE I think it would look way cool. Anybody else share my idea too?

I saw on a home decoration show from Toronto where they installed sheet metal on the kitchen floor. At the place where they fabricate steel sheets I happened to notice a sheet on the side with holes drilled into it.

Visiting Home Depot I saw a leaf filter for the rain gutters and saw this plastic piece that looked pretty good but you have to cut it up to fit the grille openings. Just an idea for now but definitely going to look into the sheet metal idea.

I'm down with that

I have some sheet aluminum with a regular pattern of holes, not unlike the merc. grill.

I have been thinking of painting it black and using it for my grill.

I'm a little concerned about it being too soft and bending easily.
I also wonder about air flow - if it will make the engine run hot.

I have a 97 SE.
I was thinking of swapping out the grill piece
for another model without the cross-bar/Nissan logo bit.

I've looked at the grill with an eye to removing it.
Doesn't look like it would be too hard.
I just wonder about how to remove the material in the center - it looks like it is all one piece with the outer part.

I tried that with a thin sheet of aluminum flashing and a hole puncher. As long as there are plenty of holes I don't think overheating would be a problem. I made a paper template and cut the sheet to fit. The sheet would have rested against the plastic grille. Unfortunately the paper hole puncher couldn't go in far enough and the sheet was rather flimsy so I gave up on that idea.
