I have a 99 se 5spd. When I am in 5th gear doing about 80mph the rpm needle is sitting at 3100rpm's. My father has a 96 auto and when he is doing 80 his rpm needle is sitting well below 3000rpm's. Shouldn't my rpm's be lower than his?

 

Naw. The 5spd is geared up different (matches the engine better) than the auto. It's more 'aggressive' than the auto trans, that's why the 5spds are so fast...
