well i was waitin for jeff to put up a post about him winning but i guess i'll have to do it

For anyone whose lost
Sat the NE guys had a meet at englishtown dragway in NJ
it was Import survival series IV
meaning cars are split up into catagories
we were in class C which is 6 cyl NA
we you get two trial runs then your in the brackets

Myself (Ant95se), Stillnmax, Chris91se, Jeff K (megamax), SupaLao, Sleeper, Bl513 (did not drag), ryz (did not drag), JJW95SC, JeffO, ED (blue 2Kmax)
was the people i remember seeing there

well the report is as follows (please correct)
Best runs :
Myself: 15.68
Stillnmax: 15.7
Chris91se: 16.9 Yippie broke 16's ...
Jeff K: the usual warp speed runs
Supa Lao: 15.5
Sleeper: 14.9 got tires wet and forgot to blaze'm
Ed: 15.2

As for the survival series brackets (again please correct)
Myself, Jeff K , and Supa Lao made it past the first round
we all got trophies got trophies .. Woo hooo

then me and jeff kept advancing till there was only three people left..Me , jeff and this VW jetta VR6 pos

so guess who gets the by (wild card) the jetta
and its poor old me Vs. Megamax. Dam it ...

I made rookie mistake this run .. ( i practically waited for jeff off the line sheesh) and i was confused for a second and took my foot off the gas .. I DUNNO Y so don't ask
cuz i saw jeff hit his brakes .. well it pays to be experienced and he waited for me at the line so he wouldn't beat his posted time ..

SO I ended up with 3rd place and another dinky trophy
NO PRIZE MONEY DAMMIT !!!!
where's my 50 bucks you cheap ****'s arrgh

and Jeff ended up beating the jetta to take first ..

CONGRATULATIONS TO JEFF K FOR 1ST PLACE IN THE IMPORT SURVIVAL SERIES IV at etown
he got the loot ..
btw: i'll get you next time jeff .. j/k

And nice job to everyone else .. considering it was our first time there..

hopefully next time we'll get more people to come out

hate to sound like rainning on people's pride, but my honest question here:
so megamax was enuff to win the 6cyl class(your 15.68 is top three??)?? i though 911 or nsx usually rule this class?? how much is the 1st prize, damn that's easy money if i have gone to race my M.

let me explain

For woodear and anyone else who doesn't know how brackets work
honestly i had no idea till sat ..
First of all you only race within your class mine being 6 cyl NA

you get two trial runs to get a feel for what your car will run ..then when brackets start you must write the time you think your car will run on your window ..
now when you line up your time is posted at the start line display ..
Example :
my first run was against this chick in a 2K mercury cougar .. blah anyway she wrote 16.7 on her window and i wrote 15.9
so off the line she gets a .8 second head start and by the end i have to catch and beat her ...
however she beat me but she ran a 16.6 which means she automatically loses.. rule is you can't run faster than what you post on your window so in the end it's all even and it's usually close

my fourth round bracket was aganist the NSX from Carative in philly i think his name is steve ( the owner)
he had 13.7 on his window i had 15.93
so i get the 2 second headstart.. thing is he couldn't wait the 2 seconds and red lights false start.. so i automatically win .. its a good thing cuz i ran 15.68 on this run and had he started properly i would have lost for running faster than my posted time..

See woodear its not about speed but CONSISTENCY (sp?)
you have to run consistent times to win ..also the reaction time makes a big difference in brackets .
my RT against jeff was a 1.2 while his was .508(i think)
so bascially my .7 second start that i was supposed to have on him i blew at the line and ended up with nothing..

any more ques jus ask ...
and yes you should bring your M... dammit i wanted to see it
oh well next time .

I see what you mean, basicly you have to run as close as possible to your estimated time but can't be faster, right?
but what happen to head up race? i think that's what it's called? you just race and whoever gets to the line 1st wins, reaction doesn't matter. that's the type i like
btw for consistency, i should have raced my automatic max, i ran 15.50 and 15.51, very consistent

yeah

right you have to run as close to your time as possible...
this is where skill comes in cuz it's all about RT
jeff even got a by (wild card) and skipped a round cuz he had the best RT in the previous Round.

I guess they do heads up racing..
i don't see how it'd be fair to just have people run cuz the person with the most money could just enter the fastest car and win all the time ...
you might like that but what happens when you see a BMW 318ti with a supercharged M3 motor pull up next to you at the gate .. (a red one pulled up next to me i $hit a brick)
then what happens ? you lose ...
thas why i like brackets better ...

BTW: just out of curiosity what mods did you have on your max when you ran 15.5 's

Nine7Max: we must've posted like 10 threads about etown ..
oh well next time be sure to check the NE forum i'm gonna try to do one again cuz now every1 that didn't go wants to go and race.. sheesh

Those are generally reserved for faster cars. Althought not all races use brackets... but in generall I think cars abouce 14 seconds are all brackets... atleast that's been the case to the races I've been to.

Pretty much what Doug listed.
I did what Jim W. told me, torque brake at 1000rpm, and manually shift at 6000 each gear. It's auto on heavy 17" chrome wheels, was unexperienced at that time, so i was carrying a whole tank of gas and my spare tire and all the junks in the trunk

thinking back, it might be faster to torque brake at a slightly higher rpm maybe 1500 and shift at redline? just my guess.

There seems to be a really fine line on where to brake torque for an auto VQ. At around 1000 car seems to bog, at 1500 car would just sit there spinning tires.. I am not sure, maybe it's just my car...

Thanks Ants...>

Glad everyone was there because I get tired of hanging out with the 300z guys...much faster and it pisses me off. Anyway I had one of the better time because I was able to show 5 other Maxima owners the real potential of this car and how consistant you can be.

Woodear: Your M would be awesome on the "Heads up" racing.
Steve from CARative took first the last two time at the track with his NSX. He runs 13.7-13.8 and takes $175 plus a
very large trophy.

I had a great time and to see three Maximas out of 5 cars left to race was the best. Granted I had one run by myself(tough race) and also had to race the other two maxima owners, it was still cool. Even the race announcer thought so.

I was class winner of "C" and "D" which blew me away. I think they got cheap on the money because of the merging of the classes. C is naturally aspirated and D is power-adder(supercharger, turbo or nitrious). I race a 12.2 second RX-7 but he lost on the line...to much wheel spin and the jetta for the last race was running low 14s...NOS?

I left there with $300 cash, drag tires(anyone want to buy),
$150 gift certificates and one very large trophy.

I didn't get a chance to post because I was busy trying to
catchup on e-mail. Hope to see more Maximas at the last event in November(5th). Thanks for everyones support!

oh really

you got $300 and $150 in Gift certificates and a trophy
and i get a third place trophy that actually smaller than the one they give out for getting past the first round ??
how does that make sense ?? oh well .. it don't matter to me i'm more than happy for gettin 7 runs and the time i was expecting

Anyhow...
NOVEMBER 5th
IMPORT SURVIVAL SERIES V
AT E-TOWN..
i've seen a lot of people post who didn't come to etown wishing they did .. here's your chance
how about we call this another meet.. what ya guyz think
I'm callin it out
all you people who want to drag and hang out with other maxima guyz this is your chance even if you don't wanna drag (i'm not) make an effort to show up

You guys should come down to Houston.

I'm sure you'll get good ET's down here.
I ran a 15.083 ( stock 5spd). I don't even have an intake.
I ran w/ hubcaps. Which I didn't think you were allowed to. After I get the ECU i'll go again to see what the Diff. is. There was a 2K max out there but I only some him once.
He had a stillen exhaust. Don't know what he ran.

Well...

I'd love to have the fastest NA 4th Gen, but I don't see that happening. My track is extremely slick and I don't have drag radials like Jeff does. I think I have one of the quicker NA 4th gens in here, but I'm not the quickest. Not until I get my 60 foots down into the 2.1-2.2 range will I have much to brag about. I've got some good mphs (94-96mph), but that's it. Hopefully I'll get some better times when I run my car in some sub 70 degree and low humidity weather. I may also go run out at Heartland Park (Topeka) which is by far a better track than KCIR.

next time in the 1st round of the brackets we should make sure we don't run against each other so we all have a shot to advance...

Jeff, wait until Arnel gets his beast back up and running.. 8k rpm redline, everything internal has been upgraded to forged titanium or forged steel alloy or forged aluminum Power won't kick in until 5500 RPM, but it'll pull like a beast until redline. That NSX will be smelling Nissan fumes!! Expect mid to high 12s from Arnel's NA Z once it's done. After that, a 150 shot is planned.

I'll see you guys on 11/5

<img src="http://www.cyberhosts.net/~gotrice/ecza/oct7_00/36.jpg">
Jeff is moving so quick I can't get a good shot LOL (jk.. I used a slow shutter speed to get enough light into the picture)
