It must have rocket thrusters on it or something.

I think it *might* be possible with a totally tricked out dragster with flames coming out the back.

But never a street car.

are you talkin street tires?

if not. Than yes. I have seen a 5.0 run 8.40@170 The 0-60 does not even regester. 60' was like 1.3

other cars

Dodge Viper Venom, and the Racing Corvette run 0-60 in 3.7....And those are "only" about $117,000 So i guess it would be possible if you dropped a couple hundred more g's into it

Sure, a top fuel dragster does 0-300+ in less than 5 seconds... All you need to do with with a mustang is some drag tires and a lotta power...

I would have to doubt it seriously.

The main issue is traction. You can put all the hp in the world into a car, but you loose traction, and your finished. If the engine is driving the wheels, I just don't see it. If you do have rocket engines, sure. I saw a 650 hp C5 vette on I think Car and Driver on PBS that could not get traction. Even with traction compound applied over 2\3's of the track, it still burned out in first, second, and third. best 1\4 mile it could do is around 11 seconds. And it is the fastest production car they ever drove. (BTW, it was tuned by Lingenthauler. I think that's spelled right) 225 mph. I'm not saying it can't be done, but I don't see it in the near future.....

Why not? In a drag car, sure it can easily be done. Street car? Nah...

Who says it was streetable? Just because it's a mustang body doesn't mean it is street legal. Just strap a different engine in it, put on some blowers, yada yada yada, modify the wheel wells to hold drag slicks, and you're there. Street tires, no way, but you can modify anything enough to do it, just takes some skill, desire, and money.

BTW, callaway's corvette sledgehammer topped out at 254.7 mph, 225 is weak!

Yeah, I did that last night in my Max, but right after that I realized my shoes were missing in the woods, and as soon as I put my Max in 4X4 and tracked them down, I realized the carbon fibre tire cozys that my grandmother knitted me had fell off. She was pissed, and I woke up. She hasn't spoke to me since.

Uhhhhh, hello ???????

I have to tell you that is possible in a Maxima, even an automatic. I have pulled a 1.98 60' time last year in Dallas, on 15" Bogarts with MT slicks. Cars with slicks can do it in most cases, its no way near an impossibility like you would expect (unless you are in a Honda)...Check out the Super Import Drag cars....1.6, 1.5 . 1.9 isn't a Miracle.

well actually

i read an article about a year or two back about a camaro ss with a turbo LT1 or LS1 engine running 2.1 to 60 but the goal was 1.9. it was in "Chevy's secret toybox." it was verified and everything. 1.9 is possible. just need the money and equipment to do it. i think in GT2, i got my R34 pulling somewhere in the 2 second range so OBVIOUSLY it can happen because if it's true in a video game, it's true in real life.

It can definitely be done in a street legal car with slicks. I have seen numerous street legal stangs running 10's. Now thats fast for the street and it doesn't cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. I think that a Kawasaki ZX12 will do it stock. Thats ****ing fast!

92GXE, touring wing, 18” racing wheels, Port&Polished intake, custom intake, custom yellow interior, racing seats, back seats taken out and replaced with subs and amps, NOS kit, Suspension tech. Lowering springs, custom grille, soon to be custom painted and have the whole engine rebuilt for big shot NOS and custom SC and tranny converted to 5-speed.

One thing we need to get straight...

Is this 60ft times or 60mph times? With 60ft, it's not all that hard. Some power, a decent launch, and you're there. 60mph however, is impossible in a streetable car. Street bikes are in the high 2secs range I think, and they're untouchable as far as cars go. For 60mph that quickly, you're gotta be talking 'bout funny cars and top fuel dragsters, rocket dragsters too.

I have the article and video of the 1.9 to 60mp/h!

It is true, I have it at home on video and an article as well! It was a comparison between a camaro and a stang and they were both in the 750 hp range! They both were pulling off incredible times but the stang came though with a 1.9 to 60mp/h time!!!!!!! No joke..... They were also in the 10's, low 11's for quarter miles!

Very quick and very scary!

It's possible...

Seen an article about an S-10 that could go faster than that. Of course it was only an S10 in shape, nothing was left from the factory. Full tube frame chassis, huge slicks and a $50k motor is all it takes. (Yes I'm sure it can be done with less $$)

Top fuel dragsters are already going 100 mph before they pass the staging lights(the lights you pull up to to stage). On a similar note, anyone see Larry Dixon's crash on Sunday? Holy ****..

if anyone is wondering, the SGP Racing 300ZX and Sound Performance 300ZX are able to knock off 0-60 times around 2.7 to 2.9.. not bad for street driven cars =)
