junkyard treasure.dual projector retrofit?

i know most people do the e55 retrofit, but i was thinking id try somehting different.

while runnin around thru the local junkyard i found a set of j30 dual projector headlamps. heres a pic if ur not familiar with them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...8542515&rd=1so i picked them up. i got them fr less than it cost to fill up my tank so i knew it was a deal.

anywho, i plan on retro fitting them. has anyone had any experience with them?

hope to have everything finished soon, ill keep things updated.

could be nice, not sure how nice of a beam pattern those are but have fun with them!

btw, you can get e55 and even e46 projectors for not much more but I understand that you want to do a dual projector set up.

good luck

The J30 projector is designed for a halogen 9006 bulb. I would look elsewhere if you really want to retro projectors into your headlight.

I don't think there is a set law on what you HAVE to use, you can make it work, especially for the money, it is worth a try. I'm planning on doing some sort of dual lens retrofit also cause I don't like that one gigantic lens, it looks like an eyeball or something.

my mom had a J30 with the dual projects and then we put in HID's and the pattern looked retarded and the output was actually less compared to the halogen, so we switched back to halogen. get hid projectors and do it right the first time

Just remember, it IS illegal to be driving around with more than 1 set of low beams on (minus foglights). I've thought about this idea before (dual projectors) but its a lot of money to invest and the room just isnt there.

hmm, yes, I forgot those projectors are low beam ones. Don't do it!

Also, let me warn you in advance that if you do a dual set up, the aiming is going to be a B i T c h. One is hard enough. Two is ridiculous.

I know it is illegal to have more than 4 lights at a time, but if you look in the pic, the inner lens is not a projector it is a highbeam halogen. That's what I'm planning to do, and the projector is on the edges, I have projectors in hand I'm just trying to find some inner halogen lens like in the picture.

It can be done. There is a member of the org who has done them with his I30. I don't think he's planning on running all four projectors at the same time. He just using the inner two for his high beam. I've been thinking about this for a while but I can't find a set of J30 headlamps anywhere. Good luck and keep us posted.

So far I've got the e55 single xenon and got halogen h3 fogs from Wally world for the highbeam, I could have used the pepboy angel eye fogs but didn't want to dish out $60 for the set. I already got one headlight just about complete that I practiced on. I did this because I don't want the cyclops look.
