I was wondering if anyone who has installed an ATF cooler has had problems clearing the power steering cooling lines, which also run in front of the AC condensor (where the ATF cooler would go). On my car, the PS cooler lines (a twisted metal tube) are approx 1-1.25" in front of the condensor approximately halfway up the condensor. I personally can't see an ATF cooler fitting in the small space between the PS lines and the condensor. I know the coolers are 3/4" thick, but when mounted with the foam pads, the clearance between that and the PS cooling line would be very very slim.

I looked at Greg Pete's ATF cooler install pictures, and the funny thing is that I don't see the PS cooling lines in that pic. When I peer down under my hood in front of the condensor, the PS cooling lines are right there. Is it possible that some 4th gens (mine is a 97 GXE) have the PS cooling lines, and others don't?

There is just enough room to fit one of the thin coolers between the PS cooler and the condensor. I put some thin faom tape on the back of the PS tube so it wouldn't come in direct contact with the trans cooler.

I installed the 1-1/2" thick B&M cooler between the power steering cooler and the a/c condensor without a problem. I had to unbolt the p.s. line from the center bracket to install the B&M, but there were no clearance problems when I put it back.

You can bend the line if necessary, just be careful not to kink it.

Did it this weekend.

I actually did the install this weekend with the Hayden. Mine rubs slightly on the PS line, but I put some foam tape on it so it won't be to bad. I also bent some of the fins. I asked the guy at the auto parts store and he said I was being **** to worry about bending 30 fins on it in one central spot. He said, "What, you don't think it will cool the fluid now?" I laughed, because he makes a great point. Sure, it's not great to have the bent fins and it cuts down on the durability. However, once it's it securly installed, who cares?

Good luck....it took patience and about 30min of wiggling and a scraped arm to get mine in just right!
