Hella Horn

I have A 99 Nissan Maxima. I want it to know if there is a GD on Hella Horn, and what is involved to Install them. Any help I appreciate it.

I dont know if there is a GD. But I do know that they are easily installed. Use the relay that comes with them. Here is a pic of mine-

IMHO, the installation of the Hella Supertone horns is very easy. There will already be a hidden harness in the right side for the horn behind the grill. Just plug one side with the horn harness and the other side to ground for each of the 2 Hella horns. You can also use a relay harness for the Hella horns but I have determined that it is not necessary in this application. Have fun modding.

You don't need the relay. You need to ground the horn but that is it. The horn is a good bit louder. But hit the panic button and watch people freak!

I don't know what the wiring is like on the maxima. By using the relay with wires you can get the maximum power to the horns. I installed it on my car (not a nissan) and the horn wires were absolutely tiny, so I decided to use the relay since obviously I wouldn't be getting the extra power hella's want from those tiny wires. Of course it will still be loud using stock wires, but it may not be up to full potential. For example.

I did some research on subaru wrx boards before installing, and people reported the horns being about 25% louder (judged by ear) by wiring it with a relay.

I could discern no audible difference with or without using a relay for this application. No harm has come from not using a relay so I have chosen not to implement one. I can only recommend that you wire it both ways and decide for yourself. The Supertone horns have both a hi and low tone horn so the sound produced by them is quite loud. The differnce from them and the stock horns are clearly night and day.

When I first installed them I didnt use the relay, they sounded like they were lacking. I redid them with the relay and put both of them in the grill. (stock on my model had one horn near the left of the timing chain cover and the other in the grill) They sound alot better this way. With both of them facing out the sound is not as loud from sitting in the car, but if you are standing in front of it and the horn is pressed it will make you want to jump.

Haha, that's pretty good. I'll have to look into a pair.
