and still had plenty in it. I was cruising at about 90, through Mississippi, when I passed a 911 from California. He decided to pick up the pace. I would say we were racing, because I would have been slaughtered, just playing. On a long flat stretch just before the Mississippi River we really kicked it. I hit 140 but had to back off since we were closing on some slower traffic pretty quick. I pulled off right after that to get some gogo juice and he stop as well. he was some guy that had just retired and had been driving around the country for two months. He was amazed how fast the Maxima was. He said he expected me to drop off way back.

My '97 Black SE is pretty much stock besides Eibach springs, clear corners, tint, front stablizer bar and Hella horns.....no engine mods.

How can you do 140 mph with only a stock engine? I could only do up to like 115-120 mph stock. When I try to go over 120, my max just slow down.... WHY??

You probably have a speed limiter. What trim level do you have?

I would guess you have a 97 GXE. They are limited at 117 I believe.

In about 20 years (give or take) that car is going to be a hunk of metal in a scrap yard, so keep smackin' the needle as far as it will go. Be safe with it though.

You can get an APEX'i rev monitor to remove the limiter. Also, I believe getting an ECU upgrade like the UPRD ECU with a group deal right now.

I dont have one on mine but if i did that would suck but than again maybe I would not go above 130mph that often but its not my fault people just seem to want to race arould here I try to be safe though when I do that the other day I was driving on the highway and this 3000GT VR4 was right next to me so I passed it and it got behind me so I down shifted and he seemed to be keeping up with me but letting off a little just too fast for him I guess why would you buy a car and not drive it like its made to be driven any way there was trafic so he caught up and I went all the way to the right from the left to pass a truck as soon as I passed a truck on the other side was OUR BEST FRIEND THE STATE TROPER well needless to say I fly by him at like 100mph and he desides to pull me over I thought I was F***ed but some how he was in a good mood and he let me of with a warning That was probably one of the luckiest things that hapened to me this year shuuuuuu I told my self I will never speed again I wish But its just tooo tampting to go fast because on the track you can only go 95mph you cant top out

Nabil played with a Carrera 2 once.. started to pull on him at 150ish.. he got to the back bumper of the porche b4 calling it off...
now THAT is some speed....

i'd say the speedo error was prolly like 3-5 mph off..

I usually drive fast, but not that fast. The conditions were right and I have traveled the road so many times, I fealt ok with it. 140 mph is pretty cool, but the following weekend I went @ 175 mph at Talladega Superspeedway. They had one of the driving schools at the track and since they are one of my clients, they let me come out and ride for free. It was pretty amazing!

Just kidding. I went about 90 on a motorcycle, but got really nervous when I started thinking about the t-shirt I had on was going to be the only thing between me and the pavement. It would have been a little more than a road rash. I fealt a little bit more comfortable knowing I was surrounded by a roll cage and all the safety equipment. It was prety nerve racking in hte car, so I can't imagine what it would have been like with the wind hitting you.
