Now Should I?

I have a slight delima. In my garage sit a 5speed VLSD tranny from my 1996 I30t. I have had the transmission in a gauging interest thread in the for sale section for sometime now but no one really made any serious offers until recently when i recieved 3 excellent offers to sell the tranny. My current car a 1999 SE-L is also a 5 speed but not a VLSD. My car maybe in need of a clutch replacement soon being as the stock 4th gen oem clutch now has 123k on it and
50 passes ay the track. My question here is should i sell the tranny or install it when my clutch is done? My stock 5speed is in great condition and i don't really call autocross and my car is not that powerful so should i sell the tranny and take the money or use it?

My Maxima is the first FWD car I've owned and it has LSD. I don't know what it would be like without it as I've never tried to launch the car from a dead stop and I've owned the car since day 1.

What benefits do you think the VLSD tranny will provide that you can't live without?

That's what I thought! It's the same as what was called posi-traction back in the muscle car days that I grew up in. My dad had a 1967 Mustang, 2-door sedan, 390 cu.in 320 hp without posi-traction. We used to race 1/4 mile on a safe road in the country, but I had to ease off the line otherwise the car would lay rubber with the left wheel for about 50 yards. Needless to say the first set of tires were replaced with something called wide ovals, lol!

Keep the trans, put it in, have fun with two patches of rubber on the pavement.

Make up your mind already! j/k. Would be nice to have one. But as others have attested to, if you thing is 1/4, the open diff has no problem putting down the power to both wheels. As long as both tires are seeing similar traction.
