What do you guys think...Turbo or Bike?

Ive got the choice to either put a nice turbo setup on my car but the end of this summer or buy a crotch rocket next spring. Im thinkin the bike would be the better investment that i would beable to get more money out of but i donno, having a fast car would be sweet too. Let me know your opinion.

I'd definetely get the bike. Instead of having a fast car, you could have a PRETTY fast car and a really fast bike. Answer seems obvious to me.

Plus, girls.

yeah i am in the same boat - but to be honest, at least with a fast car if you get in an accident you have something around you - motorcycle "accidents" are generally fatalities...

take it from me man, I had the choice( i was also 18) and i went with the bike, ending up crashing it because of some ****face not paying attention, hit some sand and went down, bike was f'd up beyond belief let alone the pain i put up with . Stay safe, get the turbo and enjoy life. I sure am thankful im still here today. I could only ask the same for you if you were to crash.

hahaha, thanks guys, i appreciate the advice. I am aware of the dangers of driving a bike. Ive heard all kinds of horror stories but for some reason ( maybe its that dumb idea of feeling invincible when im young lol) i still wouldnt mind getting one. Plus it would keep miles down on the car in the summer. But we'll see what happens, i may just get to anxious for power and go turbo.

My friend has a new all black Yamaha R1, and he is far from being a pu..sy. The guy can ride, he is in his early 30's.

I just think that the bike should come a little later for Mximus.

you hate what you don't have, eh?

I just bought a bike. I was saving up for a supercharger and decided to keep on going and just get a bike. Once you are on a bike you wonder why you try to make your car fast.......get a bike. Don't be dumb, respect it and you should be fine.

Would do the Turbo. Almost every younger person I know who bought a bike wrecked it within the first 6 months.

When having a bike, it's not even how good of a rider you are, its the motorists around you. There was a kid that went to our school a few months ago, a senior, and he had a gsxr-750. He was a great rider, im sure he was better than many. One day he was coming home and there's a 4 way stop sign. He stopped and went foreward, then got struck by a drunk driver who failed to stop. He was basically brain dead automatically. Had all the best gear and everything, so he wasn't a squid.

Just imagine. You stop at a red light, and some mom in a minivan is screaming and looking behind her at the kids, and doesnt see you...boom, you're either seriously injured or dead.

There are a bunch of scenarios like this. Even if you're the best rider in the world, you can still be killed by a dumbass cager. Some pro riders don't ride on the street, and when asked why, they say that its just way too dangerous with the drivers that are on the roads today.

I say get a bike and ride it on a track, its MUCH more safe there than it is on the streets.

1) You live in MAINE!!! Winter is 8 months long there! Unless you are away at school in a place that's a little warmer you won't be able to enjoy that nice new bike very much.

2) If you were in a warmer place, though, I would say that the BIKE is DEFINITELY a better choice than the turbo. Turbo = 80 HP and half-second faster 0-60 times. Bike = lots of speed and fun times on the road in nice weather. Much greater freedom than driving a 3,000 pound car. It doesn't even have to be that fast to be fun if you enjoy riding.

MY ADVICE (take it or leave it): Start with a cheapy bike that's not very fast (get one for under $1,000 bucks that runs well. See if you like it. If you do, sell it and get a real bike. You'll probably sell it for the same price you got it, especially if you buy in winter.

your always going to run into problems and always spending money on the turbo to maintain it and shiet. your car looks nice so get a bike. i mean why throw all the cash into the car? doesnt sound like a good investment for a almost 10 year old car.
im 18 i would love turbo for my car, but a bike is cooler and madd biches love bikes.

I was in the same place as you 1 month ago.

I signed the papers for my gsxr 750 on a wednsday.
The next night my friend was hit by a drunk driver as he pulled up to a red light.
He is ok but he has some back problems , scrapes and for the first 2 days he lost his memory. It scared me to be honest.
I hear it happen all the timebla bla bla... but when it appens to someone you know it makes you think.

I changed my mind , my stillen S/C came in monday

I say go turbo

I agree, you'll kill yourself on a bike. You're young and fearless, so hook up the Max and save the bike for later.

Yeah, they don't call bikes " ZOOM-SPLATS" for nothing. I'd hate to hear anything happen to you. My cousin 3 years ago was killed instantly by some silly broad who ran a stop sign talking on fckin cell phone, he was 18 and just 30 seconds from his driveway and he was going 30mph. He was DOA.... Think about man....

I'm getting a bike hopefully next year.... if you were to get it instead of a turbo just be carefull.. they are sure lots of fun in the summer and have the ability to attract lots of girls and more riders, so right off the street you can have 20 plus riders to make a hell of a night...

there just some things that don't happen in a car that does on a bike........ I say bike and have fun..

I just heard from a guy at work that insurance rates will go up if you add a supercharger or a turbo. I said what if you do not tell them. He said that if you get in a wreck and they find out you have one, that will give them a loop hole to get out of paying your claim. I am going to read the small print on my insurance policy. He said that is where he read that at. I just have to dig my policy out of one of the many boxes in my garage (we just moved it a couple of weeks ago).

I'd rather see a sexy turbo charger in your Max than your body splattered all over the road, please man, get a turbo. Listen to the people here.

My friend who owns the bike is actually a registered nurse at my job. He works in the ICU as well as the O.R., you would think that working in this field it would change his mind. He loves riding though, but tells me about all of the idiots who do not pay attention on the road.

I myself have seen several bad outcomes from motorcycle accidents and so I have stayed away from them. To each their own, just be careful.

yeah...id have to agree with the majority. I want a bike too, but...its just too dangerous. Sure you get girls, but would you rather break your bones and be paralyzed just for a couple of girls here and there? Get the turbo...sure bikes are fast...but you never know...some jacka$$ on the road might blind side you. There are some seriously fu*ked up drivers out there...

ther is nothing wrong with getting a bike, i have had one for years and i am now restoreing an old honda magna... not a crotch rocket but still a bike..

i honestly would say wait till you are a little older tho... i know you probably had that said to you all your life....drinking, what ever... but in all honestly you are only 18.... you need a little more experiance on the road befor you would be safe enough to hit the road on a bike...

Think about it maybe you took your drivers test at 16 and got your licence then that means you have only been driving for 2 years.... i am not telling you not to get one... becuase its damn fun to get on a bike and ride...

save up the cash and buy a bike later... even if you dont get the turbo for the max... how nice would it be to save up more cash and buy a great bike later on...

not to sound mean, and dont take this as a rude comment but .... do your self a favor and grow up first... enjoy what you have now and get what you want later on

just my 0.02

Buy a jet ski. You'll have speed, summer fun, babes in bikinis, and no insurance issues.

Just watch out for the little old ladies who can barely see over the dashboards of their houseboats. You don't want a giant pontoon to be the last thing you see as its driving over you.
