This is All over Basic Maintence & Using a Family Mechanic...
First Wheel Bearing:
5 Months ago I needed a R-side Wheel Bearing.
Bought New At Advanced Auto Parts.. 180ish
Mechanic Installed 300 b/c its the press in style.
.......................................... So Approx $480.
First Brakes:
2 Months later I purchased very Slowly my New Brakes.
Brembo Rotors $140, Porterfield RS pads. $110, Fit clips $14.95
Easy enough, I installed it....... So Approx $260.
2nd Wheel Bearing:
Well Here we go..... Crapy wheel bearing Failed...
Returned that one-$... Paid $20 More and got one from Somewhere else.
Mechanic Labor To install it.... So Approx $200.... b/c its the 2nd one.
$960.00 so far....
NEXT My Brakes go bad. Everything goes to ****.
He <Mechanic> claims i installed them incorectlly... haha right.
So I got Nissan 70.00 Factory Pads, Rotors Turned , and New Fit clips again.
THIS TIME I PAID HIM to do the work.. Approx 270 with labor..
AutoTire Day <last thurs.>
The Local Speed shop Recommended Them For simple Tire Installation..cool.
Put My car on the Rack. They could SHAKE MY WHOLE WHEEL 1/2 Inch Both Ways. (YES same Wheel Bearing side)
Turns out.. My MECHANIC. DIDNT TIGHTEN my AXLE Nut.. wtf?
SO They Tighten It. Oh What do ya know..
Brakes are shot again...
I will agian Proceed to Install the 3rd Set of Pads this YR. And Get My Rotors Turned ONCE AGAIN...
All together i sucessfully wasted about
960+270+200ish for new crappy brakepads/rotors turned.......
OH about $1,500.00 On THis RIdiculious Car...
OH plus+ i may need another wheel bearing in the nxt yr b/c the axle Nut was so loose the bearing got Much More Wear on it..
man where do i win....... i almost wanna H-thing

My mechanic didnt tighten down the axel nut... either time when installing the wheel bearing.
Once they(autotire) Tightened down the Axel Nut THen the Rotor/Pads were aligned again... But it had been loose ,therefore the wear on the rotor and pads was off aligned.
It sounds horrible when i stop... grinding scraping... this is because everything is in place and ALigned. Not all loose at the Axel and everywhere.

I thought my english was bad, but look at this guy.
you replace your brake, and you call that a problem?
Which one of these things are you?

You're complaining of this site when you should use it instead of b!tching about how bad your mechanic took you for .. A lot of that work you could've done on your own and saved some money. Those are expensive brakes too ... Bearings don't go that easily nor do they go that fast, your mechanic figured out how to
you ... and bearings hey " works everytime" he probably tells his friends. I would've said the same thing about your age ... change it, maybe you'll be looked upon dirfferently maybe not, I don't care. What's with a little humor, he also suggested, just like 100% of the people that have posted so far, to get a new mechanic because he's
you and you seem to like it. Family mechanic ... Pressing bearings isn't that hard ($200+
)

As the old saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted. Do you own a Haynes manual and any tools? If not I suggest you start with that. Find a mechanic who is competent if, in fact, you aren't!Quote:
