ES Motor Mounts are in and I like them.

I put them in last weekend and so far I have been very satisfied with the results. Eliminates the majority of wheelhop and first gear is ALOT smoother now. It doesn't buck back and forth as much as before when cruising at low speeds either. To sum it up, the car just feels more controllable and overall refined.

Their is a noticeable amount of vibration inside of the cabin but it hasn't bothered me at all yet.

So if you're thinking about dropping 80 bucks on something worthwhile for your car, I would recommend these.

The installation is pretty straightforward once you've gotten the new bushings pressed in. I don't exactly have the right tools so it took me quite a while to break all of the bolts loose. In all I broke 2 ratchets, a socket and busted my knuckles up pretty bad but you live and you learn!!

that's why you make sure you always have the right tools for the job even if it costs you more money than you wanted to spend. Tools are very worthwhile investment.

By the way I'm enjoying the ES mounts as well.

the autos have a larger front motor mount so the ES ones will not fit. I haven't seen any junkyards willing to part just one front manual motor mount either, thats if i can even find a manual maxima around here

Why is that anyway? Is it that way for both 4th and 5th gens? You'd think I would know this, but for some reason I don't...

the auto ones are electronic, you'll notice a harness connected to each one. I guess nissan felt the need to make the front one larger. I believe this is for all 4th and 5th gen autos

Does the auto tranny weigh that much more that it presses down on the front more? Or did they figure that those with an auto would want a smoother ride, too...or?

It's all very mysterious

Just installed mine to this weekend. Very little incrrease in vibration. I noticed it the most when the car was starting up and when the rpms were below idle. At warm idle you can tell there is more than normal, but my car still vibrates less at idle than my wife's 05 Sentra SE-R. The car feels much tighter now like Lurch said. 95% of the engine slop is gone and shifts feel much crisper. Wheelhop is pretty much eliminated. I couldnt get it to wheelhop on dry pavement doing 1/4mi launches. However before whenever I am rolling about 20 and shift into 1st and pop the clutch I get nasty wheelhop if it doesnt spin. I tried it with the mounts and I still get wheelhop, but the intensity is much less and certainly not the windshield wiper starting wheelhop. Instead of a sharp bang! its a dull thump.

Moneywise it is so worth it that it shouldnt be a question as to whether you will get it or not, but as to when. In terms of effort... I had to pull and reinstall my mounts 3 times and take them to 4 different places. Its best just to have the old bushings torched and cut out. A huge pain in the *** for my experience, but still worth it.

that would drive up the costs hence the pr mount mounts are more expensive because they come with new mounts and urethane inside already

I have the mounts on my auto and love them also. There was vibration the first day i put them in but after that i have not noticed it. It either went away or i am used to it now.My car feels much better with the mounts.

If anyone is interested i do have a front 5 speed mount that has had the mount pressed out. All ready for an es mount to be pressed in. I also have a rear 5 speed mount with the mount still intact. Both are for sale.

he wants to see how the front lower subframe bushing looks like.
he wants to upgrade his bushings to ES stuff
he wants us to know his next mods are mm, sway bar, and end link grommets

the bushings come in 8 pieces, oval shaped, one fits into the other like grooves. Installation requires one to go in from the top and one from the bottom. Buy a set and you will know

Yes, I think it's a fluid with particles that increases the viscosity when a current is applied, therefore stiffening it up under throttle and when off throttle, it probably gets soft so the car won't vibrate so much...

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have a question:

Immediately after installing ES motor mounts (and ES subframe bushings), I noticed a ton more vibration at idle. The driveline sloppiness was all gone, and I was elated but a little concerned about the vibration. After only a few hours of driving (which equals a week or two since I don't drive much), the vibration mostly went away. Still a lot of vibration at startup, and when the engine gets below idle, but I can handle it. However, with this apparent "softening" or "breaking in" of the mounts, a lot of the driveline slop came back! I was pissed. All the effort of finding a shop who couldn't even get out the old bushings but still charged me $50, and then ultimately burning them out myself and using a car as a press (worked like a charm), and I felt like it was a waste. I guess the engine is moving less and there is slightly less play, but it doesn't seem much improved. I'm talking mainly about when you're in gear and you get on and off the gas, the car jerks. That's still there!

How about you guys?

Ya I've always gotten the slop on and off the gas even after I installed the mounts, I don't exactly know how I can stop it or what I should try to do, but I dont actually think its always related to the front and rear mounts.... It's hrad to say, it would make sense that it is, but in my case it happened right away even with the mount in.

I'm almost positive that I noticed almost no slop at the beggining when I was getting crazy vibration.
