I'm 30 yrs and getting older by the second. But you know what, for most of us, this stuff is a just a hobby. It's like fishing or sailing, etc... I see it as a way to get out of the house, have some fun, and even spend time with my son. He's only 9, but his 2 favorite cars' are a Nissan Skyline and Toyta Supra. It's nuts, 'cuz somedays we'll be just driving around, and he'll be like, "Whoa Dad, did you see the intercooler on that Civic!" I think he's already got the bug. And guess what, no matter what my GF says, I don't want to !!!!!!!!!

I like these threads better than the "where do I buy altezzas / lowering springs" I see 100x a day. At least this is original. But it does belong in OT.

I'm 54 next month and bought a Budget y-pipe a year ago. Car is virtually stock except for K&N panel filter and FSTB. Thinking about an RSB after I buy new tires.

But no I'm not interested in a hacked air box, LEDs, altezzas etc. etc and I prefer my Black Emerald paint without adding any clear corners.

Not interested in lowering the car or dubs either.

The Max is a 5-speed. I like the sleeper look and its fast enough for me.

Mine is heavily modded for performance but I agree about the look, I kept it very very stock looking. 11 years to go till 30. Most people here seem to be in their early to mid 20's, but there seems to be alot over 30.

I'm 37 and I'm just trying to keep my car running economically, though after reading some of the posts here, I'd love to do some modifications. With a small child and a wife, I don't take as many risks as I used to, but I do like to drive fast. Once I get a couple problems fixed (EGR system problem and ball joint replacement) I'll think about tuning everything else up a bit..

Still modding and wrenching (and banning btw hahaha!) But getting tired of this and REALLY considering biting the bullet and buying an used 2003 G35 sedan. *and then start modding that* haha

That sounds like a good plan

I'm 31 and still modding, though things have changed drastically for me. When I had my Maxima, I was always thinking "what's next" and I constantly seemed to be wrenching/modding it in some way. I spent countless hours in the garage. Constantly thinking about my car and mods grew tiresome....and expensive. Then last November we had a baby boy and some of the priorities changed. It still didn't stop me from getting my G in Janaury though I'm definitely modding this car, but to the extent I did the Maxima. So far my mods have been minimal and cheap, but she is definitely not "stock" though I have used factory parts for everything except tint and paint.

-350Z pedals
-350Z intake pipe
-G coupe springs
-OEM splash guards
-painted grill (black)
-05 reverse light housings (much cleaner)
-35/20 tint

With this car, I seemed to be more focused on refining the looks. It's already pretty quick for stock (damn near as fast as my Maxima was modded). I'll add a few HP mods, but most of the money will go into body work and wheels. Maybe an LSD pumkin swap from a 350Z.

I have no plans to stop modding and I firmly expect to be buying either an 03 Cobra, S2000, 97 SS Z28 for a 3rd "fun" car where refinement/ride/noise takes 2nd place to all out performance.

Yup, your are right Dave. One thing that intrigues me about the G35 Sedan is the stock parts from the coupe and Z that bolt on for a mild lowering/stiffer ride.

Less mods on each new car I get, but the minimum modding standard must be maintained.

Murdoch grow up you're just a big kid. Putting a y-pipe on an old man's car trying to act young, give it up.

Leave this fast sleeper stuff for the young'uns.

BTW Lowering is ok but the dubs are definately out.

I turn 30 this year. I'm pretty much done modding my Maxima. Just have to install some new Tokico Blues and I'm finished. Yep, done, that's it, no more. I'm going to be focusing the majority of my time and energy on my Camaro project. Does that count?

Settle down Warren its not good for the Blood Pressure. These old Basterds who think they can do the same stuff as the kids. Get a grip on your age and act accordingly. Isn't it great what Viagra can do?

My new moto is "do it once and do it right". I've waste way too much money buying cheap and inferior parts or choosing the lower grade option when I wanted the higher grade. Patientce is the key.

Yup, your are right Dave. One thing that intrigues me about the G35 Sedan is the stock parts from the coupe and Z that bolt on for a mild lowering/stiffer ride.
Yep, drivetrain parts that work on the Z, work on the G. Just keep in mind that going with a 1" drop or lower on the G results in some uncorrectable OEM camber issues. To get the camber back to factory spec, you need to buy $400 adjustable A-arms for the front and some $50 camber bolts for the rear. Most G owners don't do the A-arms and choose to risk munching their tires. But like me, you're a perfectionist and choose to do things the right way. The good news is you can by a set of fully assembled and barely used 350Z springs/struts for $150-200. The Z struts also have .5" shorter housings so you can gain some wheel travel back. The ride is a tad firmer and a little more bouncy. Nothing horrible though. I went with the higher riding G coupe springs because I didn't want to spend $600-700 on a suspension yet. I got the springs for $40 shipped. Hopefully the Aero bumper will visually lower the front end a bit. The car already has wheelgaps quite a bit smaller than my Maxima did on H&Rs

Hmm...so you've switched again? First giving up modding the Max to spend money on modding your house. Now switched from the house to the Camaro...how's the wife taking this? hehehe

I was only pulling your chain. I got a quote last year for Cdn$260 for the b-pipe, but the y-pipe is only Cdn$250, so I only bought the y. The jury is still out on whether or not I will get a b-pipe as they only add say 5whp at the most. Not sure what they do for fuel economy, if anything.

My wife would like to think the mod bug will go away with age.... hope she doesn't see this thread ..lol.. I know it never will. I will always want to make my car better/different than the rest of the cars on the street. I'm a VW Audi tech... so my love for Nissan is misunderstood at work. I think the next round of mods are in order, FI and 5spd swap. If not I'm going to end up buying a 2000-2002 S4 and mod that
