NGK spark plugs

I am having a hard time finding NGK platinum plugs for my 98. Anyone else having this problem.

Any other recommendations for spark plugs.

You aren't looking very hard if you can't find NGK spark plugs in a city the size of Denver! You have two choices: NGK platinums (PFR5G-11) which are OEM, or NGK coppers (BKR5E-11). Do yourself a favor, and don't consider or buy any others.

And to further expand on rmurdoch's recommendation, you can purchase the stock platinum plugs at any Nissan dealer. However, if you decide to go the route of the coppers (as I did), you can find those at Napa or another parts store of the like.

Lets see I called Checker, Pep Boys and Napa. They did not have NGK in platinum. I almost let them talk me into Bosch. On your expertise I will continue the hunt for NGK.

Do coppers give your engine better performance? and how long before they need changed?
I just bought my Maxima. I love it. I plan on keeping it stock but I am always looking for better performance.
I really appreciate your experience and I hope to be able to pass on what I learn to others.

There really is no performance difference and both perform about the same, however it is said that the coppers are better conductors so it could be a benefit. The main differences are that the coppers will go about 30k miles compared to 60k+ for the platinums. However, considering the coppers were about $1 compared to $11 for the platinums, I don't mind changing them out twice as much.

I was not exspecting to have to pay $11 I was told at NAPA that the Bosch will last 100K and cost $6.
What makes NGK so much better?

Read through the stickies and you will find out why Bosch is strongly discouraged from being used in our engines. If you want no issues, run NGK and NGK ONLY!

Never did try Iridiums on my 4th Gen but I have run my fastest N/A time, 13.3 with an auto and 2 steps colder NGK Iridiums. I bought them for nitrous but they sure have performed well N/A as well.

If you are running FI or nitrous, a colder plug is needed. Haven't heard of using warmer plugs before though.
