15K service
#2
I would not take it the dealer. They tend to rip customers off with unnecessary (or unperformed) services. The 15k service is basically the following:
Change oil/filter
Change air filter
Check brakes
Rotate tires
Optional:
Change fuel filter
Drain/refill ATF
Drain/refill Coolant
Safety inspection (exhaust, belts, etc..)
My guess is that most dealers charge around $150 for the 15k service. If you take it to an in independent shop, they might charge 15k, but they will also do all the "optional" things I listed above.

Re: 15,000 mile and 45,000 mile Service
Good info. Seems most of these can be done at home with minimal effort. Such as all the inspections (except brakes), lubrication, and whatever a BG engine service kit is. I would just get the stuff you cannot do at home (or would be too much trouble to do) at the dealer if I had to, and then pocket the money for a rainy day. Think about it this way, if any suspension or exhaust component wore out at 15k, it is covered under warranty and you should not have to pay the dealer to have them "inspect" it.
