Everyone with a haynes of chilton repair manual should scan each page, and we can form a repair section for each generation on the maxima.org home page.

I don't think it would be a good idea to have copywrited material posted on the website. I would hate to see someone close this site because we have scanned images of a $20 repair manual.

At least your heart was in the right place. I tell you what, If you were to create your own repair manual, I'm sure you wouldn't have any trouble finding someone to host the site for you. Hell, I'll build the site if you've got the content. Just follow the chilton instructions, take your own photos, use your own words to describe the process, and voila! You've got a manual.

That's all and good, but you can't just post the entire book and say, oh yeah, this is Chilton's. For each person that is viewing the material for free online, there is a sale not being given to Chilton. Napster anyone?

What about asking haynes or chilton if they would mind if we did that? as long as we give them credit
Just a thought!

couldn't hurt to try. Go for it. I doubt that you'll get a kind response.

Why would they? It's taking away from their profit, it's not promoting their sales because people rather look at the book for free online then going and paying 20$ for it. They are selling information and we would be just giving it away for free. I think it's better to just ask the question and have someone tell you the process in detail, then scanning a whole book. There are many write ups people created themselves with detailed pictures, it would be better for ORG members to do it and have them put on the site, there is a section for some useful things to do already. Don't remember what the link is called, it's good though, just contribute it.
