want to know if its possible to fit this size into the rears of a 4th gen maxima?!

my buddy in Singapore is getting new Volk wheels for his sweet R34 skyline GTR V-spec. am going to make a proposition to him to sell his factory rims to me.

its 18X8 up front and 18X9 rear. any thoughts and suggestions is greatly appreciated.

hey

So your gonna put GT-R rims? That would be cool.
Contrary to what most folks would say, I'd say you PROBABLY could. I got 18x10's in the rear but it could just be my rims. I get my 18x8's (front)this Fri. We all know we're front wheel drive so I'd say if you really want them go for it. It's your choice they probably won't help any or maybe even slow you down. Who knows no one has tried it or at least said that they have. I'll let you know next week.I got 96 by the way. It might be wise for him to let you borrow 1 wheel with the tire to see if it rubs. I don't think it will and I got 265 in the rear. I'll post pics hopefully early next week as long as they get here on time.

Wider tires in the rear will worsen the handling. The car already understeers, and wider rears will increase understeer.

I highly agree with Micah95GLE.

What is the point of getting FAT rear tires on a FWD car?

Not only is it silly and will not help any, it DOES worsen the handling. Get same size on all 4s.

Bigger in the front would be more functional, yet only with massive HP under the hood, and would look fugly either way.

Just my 2 cents.

ahhhh thank you guys

like i said before, wider tires in rear on a Max serves no purpose but help increase hydroplaning in the rear and spend more money on tires. the only thing i can see it helping is if your suspension is set up with alot of oversteer to need extra grip in the rear. I highly doubt that.

back to the GT-R wheels, i dont think the offset would be right for your car anyways. The car will track and handle different, IF it does fit on the car....

I know alot of people knock the idea, but I saw

I think in European Car Mag a year back a GTI with 18X8 in front and 18X9 in back with 265's...it looked really good.

Sure it looked good. Just like many cars would, say a BMW for example. Or how about a Vette. It looks good with the massive rear wheels. But they are RWD as you all know. It not only looks good, it helps that specific car function.

So the point is, on our cars, its not functional, does NOT help in any way, cost more in tires and to maintain, and for those that know its not a RWD car will think its funny. Atleast I think it would be funny to see a FWD car with a massive rear. (i.e.: hahahaa, look at that car drag its big butt around)

Again, its likely they will not work any how. I too think it would look killer asthetic wise! If the bolt spacing is the same (I think they are) the off-set is not correct for you Maxima, trust me. Just like putting some nice modern eurolooking, rims designed for a FWD will mess up the ride of a Camaro. People do it, but the car now handle's like crap. As will your car handle doing this example the other way around.
