Well, okay, it's not new, but here's an option for those of you who are a little overwhelmed with the forums.

You can click on the category heading for the category you want to view all the time, say Maxima Discussions. When you do, you'll see the URL bar turn into:

http://forums.maxima.org/index.phtml?categoryid=1

Now, bookmark it! When you come back to it, the rest of the categories will be collapsed and only the Maxima Discussions will be shown. The same goes for any other category. To undo it, just go back to http://forums.maxima.org and they'll all be expanded again.

after doing that I just now noticed the active users list at the bottom; I usually never scroll down past the maxima discussions
